One photograph at a time, the masters read what a made-to-measure cushion is doing: its proportion, the line of the piping, the fabric against the light, and the questions that come up before cutting one like it.
How thin can a window seat cushion go? I'd like 2 in or even 1 in so it slides under the sill.
The workshop's answer
2 in (5 cm) is available; the shop switched on a 2 in option for the trapezoid shape, whose thicknesses otherwise start at 3 in (7.5 cm), with 4 and 5 in (10 and 12.5 cm) also offered. 1 in (2.5 cm) can be made, but it is extremely thin for sitting and may not support you well, so the shop recommends at least 2 in.
My bench is nearly 10 feet long. Can the cushion be one single piece?
The workshop's answer
It can, but two is usually better. For a 111 3/8 in (283 cm) seat the workshop recommended two separate pieces for durability and easier handling, and a 111 in (282 cm) bench was done as two 55 1/8 in (140 cm) cushions. A single 98 3/8 in (250 cm) banquette seat has been made in one piece when a buyer asked for it.
My window seat is a trapezoid. Which measurements do you need, and can you check my drawing before I order?
The workshop's answer
Three numbers: the front length, the back length and the straight depth between them. The craftsmen work out the two angled sides and send a diagram to confirm. A seat 115 in (292 cm) along the front, 82 in (208 cm) along the back and 20 in (51 cm) deep came out with sides of about 26 in (66 cm). Upload the approved diagram in the measurement section when you order.
