The quick answer

A Reading is one real photograph of a made-to-measure cushion, interpreted by one of the seven masters: proportion, piping, fabric against the light and the measurements behind it. The 1,396 Readings here each carry the questions buyers ask about a cushion like the one in the photograph, with the workshop's answers.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

None of the listed sizes come close to my bench. How do I order?

    The workshop's answer

Message the workshop with your exact size, and it is added as a new size option on the listing so you can check out normally. Sizes added this way have included 18.5 x 11.5 in (47 x 29 cm), 40 x 138 in (102 x 351 cm), 29.5 x 29.5 in (75 x 75 cm) and 20 x 50 in (51 x 127 cm).

  2. A common question

Where does the zipper go on the cover, and will it show?

    The workshop's answer

Every cover has a zipper and comes off. The zipper sits on the back side of the cushion, as hidden as possible, and that side is meant to face down or back against the seat so only the clean face shows. If you can see the zipper, the cushion may be upside down.

  3. A common question

Do you make round cushions, say for bar stools in a café?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Send a reference photo with the diameter and thickness. For a new coffee shop, the workshop made five 16 in (41 cm) round cushions at 4 in (10 cm) thick, built for heavy café use; 3.5 in (9 cm) was also possible. The workshop makes the cushion and foam only, not metal stool frames.
