Buyer questions

  1. A common question

I need a 6 in thick bench cushion firm enough that adults don't sink through. Is your foam high density, 1.8 lb or more?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. The foam is 32 kg/m³, about 2.0 lb/ft³, so it clears a 1.8 lb requirement. It sits in the firm category and goes into all the seating. There's no official ILD figure to quote. A 6 in (15 cm) thickness can be made on request; one quote was for a 25 x 78 x 6 in (64 x 198 x 15 cm) cushion.

  2. A common question

Where we sit, the sofa fabric looks washed out. Is that normal?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Pile shifts when you sit on it and settles back to its normal look after a few days of use. If you still don't like the color after that, covers in a different color can be bought at cost instead of returning the whole sofa.

  3. A common question

How close to my numbers will the finished cushion be? I'd rather it came out a little small than too big.

    The workshop's answer

Finished sizes can vary by about an inch (2.5 cm). If a number is a hard maximum, say so: when one buyer said 24 in (61 cm) was the absolute limit, the workshop made the cushion 23 in (58 cm).
