A cream velvet modular floor sofa with raspberry ends, read by its edges
A Japandi room with almost nothing in it, and one floor sofa doing all the talking. I read it the way I read any low seat: edge first, then height, then color.
The quick answer
A modular floor sofa reads calmest with a box edge and no piping, because the seam between the cream seat and the raspberry end panels already draws the line. Each module is a boxed block with its own backrest, a bolster finishes the run, and the pieces can sit straight along a wall, turn an L, or lie flat as a bed.
SavePinned by Hana: five quiet things in a Japandi room
Five pins, from the low oak bench standing in for a coffee table to the raspberry caps on the bolster.

- Low oak bench
A bench at seat height replaces a coffee table beside floor seating.
- Single stem vase
One stem is all the styling this restrained room needs.
- Raspberry-capped bolster
The bright caps are the only color in the frame.
- Raspberry backrest sides
Color on the sides frames each backrest like a panel.
- Wide oak floor
Warm oak under a cream seat keeps the room from feeling cold.

Why the edge is boxed and the piping left off
The frame holds very little. A limewashed wall. Wide oak boards. A low oak bench with one stem in a cream bud vase. Then the sofa.
It is a modular floor sofa in cream velvet, with the backrest sides and the bolster caps in raspberry. Every module is a box: flat top, straight walls, square corners. That is the right edge for floor seating. A knife edge domes in the middle and rolls away from the wall. A box edge stands up like a small piece of architecture.
There is no piping. The color change already draws the line where top meets side, and a welt would draw it twice. When two fabrics meet at a corner, let the seam be the line. The trade-offs are laid out in box edge versus knife edge.
Raspberry on the sides, cream where you sit
The seat and the backrest faces are cream. That is where hands, knees and coffee land. The raspberry stays on the ends, framing each backrest like a panel, and on the round caps of the bolster. The loudest color goes where the wear is lowest.
Cream velvet takes soft daylight well. It shows a faint sheen on top and a shade deeper on the sides, so even the pale part reveals its edges.
The bench is low, close to the sofa's seat height of about 13.5-14.5 in. It replaces a coffee table, which would sit too high beside floor seating. Height is a feeling, and everything in this room agrees on it. How high is the table beside your floor seat?
One stem. One bench. One color, kept to the edges.
