The Cutting Table · a common question
Is the cushion foam non-toxic, and does it have flame retardants?
Also asked as:Is it toxic material?Any flame retardants or anti-stain finishes?
Two questions, one spec sheet. Here's what sits inside the cover, what doesn't, and why the label sticks to what can be documented.
The quick answer
The cushion foam is high-density polyurethane upholstery foam with no flame-retardant additives, and the cover fabrics carry no flame-retardant finish. Fabrics come from a mill certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (03.T.3239), and the certificate is shared on request. If you are shopping for non toxic cushion foam because of allergies or off-gassing, ask which filling your specific product uses.

Why the label only says what the paperwork says
Here's the spec as the workshop gives it, partner. The core is high-density polyurethane foam made for upholstery, with no flame-retardant additives. The cover fabrics carry no flame-retardant finish either, and they come from a mill certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (03.T.3239); the certificate is shared on request.
What I won't do is stretch that into a broader promise. One reply described a corduroy pouf's filling as natural latex, which doesn't match the polyurethane described everywhere else, so treat it as unconfirmed and ask which filling your exact product uses. If allergies or off-gassing are the worry, ask product by product.
The flame-retardant-free cushions and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 patterns explain the terms, and the daybed cushions atlas shows where this foam goes. Which piece are you looking at: a daybed, a floor sofa or a pouf?

Buyer questions
- A common question
What's the inside made of, and is it toxic?

The workshop's answerThe fabrics come from a mill certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (03.T.3239), and the fabric has no flame-retardant treatment, so it carries no such finish.
- A common question
What's the filling in the corduroy pouf sofa?
The workshop's answerThat reply described it as natural latex upholstery foam, which differs from the polyurethane foam described for other pieces. Confirm the filling for that exact product; the certificate is shared on request.

Questions buyers ask next
Does the cover fabric have a stain-repellent coating?
Velvet has no stain-repellent coating, and the teddy fabric is water-repellent. The main protection is washability, and you can apply a fabric protector spray yourself once the covers arrive.
Is the foam a bare block inside the cover?
No. The firm 2.0 lb/ft³ (32 kg/m³) foam is wrapped in polyester fiber (Dacron) wadding before it goes into the cover, which softens the surface and gives fuller, rounded edges.
What should I do if I have allergies?
Ask before ordering which filling your specific product uses, and request the fabric certificate. Answers come product by product, and one pouf reply named a different filling from the rest.
