Do you have white, cream or natural fabric for cushions?

Also asked as:Do you have a plain white, like white canvas? Is there a white velvet option?

White is never only white. It leans warm or cool, chalky or soft, and the cloth underneath decides which. Here is what actually comes off the shelf when a buyer asks for it.

The quick answer

White, cream and natural cushion fabrics are all available: plain white L-01 linen, white velvet, and a natural linen series chart of neutral shades. For an unbleached, natural white or cream look, the workshop points to its 100% cotton range. Neutrals from the series can be mixed across cushions, and a set in several sizes is quoted together.

Reading a white before you choose it

Put white linen and white velvet under the same afternoon window and they become two different colors. Linen holds the light flat and matte, like fresh plaster. Velvet catches it in the pile, so one side glows and the other falls toward dove gray. Daylight never lies; your screen sometimes does.

The unbleached cottons sit warmer still, closer to cream, oat and undyed thread. That is why the workshop sends buyers there when they ask for a natural white rather than a bright one.

Browse linen and cotton-linen and velvet side by side, then hold a real fabric swatch against your wall before you decide. Is your white meant to glow or to rest, my friends?

A real project

Three sizes, one chart, then a fourth cushion

A buyer in the US wrote to the workshop asking which neutral linens we had, for three cushions: 48 x 20 in (122 x 51 cm), 41 x 18 3/4 in (104 x 48 cm) and 14 x 9 in (36 x 23 cm). The workshop sent the natural linen series chart and quoted all three together as one set.

Then the buyer added a fourth cushion and chose two shades from the series. The set reads as one family without being one flat color, which is exactly what a neutral series is for.

For a natural, unbleached white or cream cushion, the workshop points buyers to its 100% cotton range rather than the plain white linen.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

Do you have a plain white fabric, something like white canvas?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. L-01 on the linen color chart is white. It has been made with matching L-01 piping and with contrasting yellow L-49 piping.

  2. A common question

Is white velvet one of the options?

    The workshop's answer

Yes, white velvet is available and is ordered through the velvet listing.

  3. A common question

Do you have a natural unbleached shade for French-mattress floor cushions?

    The workshop's answer

For a natural white or cream look, the workshop pointed to the 100% cotton range on its color chart.

  4. A common question

    Are your fabrics performance fabrics?

    The workshop's answer

They're durable, pre-shrunk and machine washable, except the 100% cotton stripes. There's no branded stain-proof finish; for families, soft fabric and velvet clean most easily.

Questions buyers ask next

Can one cushion set mix two neutral linen shades?

Yes. Shades from the natural linen series can be combined across cushions; one buyer chose two shades from the series for a four-cushion set. Send every size and the set is quoted together.

Which is the brighter white, L-01 linen or the cotton range?

L-01 is the plain white on the linen chart. The 100% cotton range is the one suggested for a softer, unbleached white or cream. If you're torn, ask for free close-up photos of both codes side by side.

How should I judge a white fabric before ordering cushions?

Order a swatch and look at it in daylight, in the room where the cushion will live, next to your walls and wood trim. Screens and warm bulbs both shift how a white reads, so trust the window.
