The Cutting Table · a common question

Do you make round cushions?

Also asked as:Can you make me a large circle?Durable cushion for a bar stool

Yes, and a circle is the easiest shape to order, partner: two numbers and a photo. Here is how real rounds went, from café stools to a play tent.

The quick answer

Yes, round cushions are made to a custom diameter and thickness: send both numbers with a drawing or reference photo, for example 16 in (40.5 cm) bar-stool cushions at 4 in (10 cm) thick. Round and rectangular sizes can share one order and one quote. Stool bases aren't supplied.

Two numbers make a circle

A round cushion is the one shape where the drawing is nearly optional. Diameter and thickness define it; a reference photo shows the edge and the seat it sits on.

Measure across the widest point, through the center, then again at a right angle. Two equal numbers mean a true circle. Two different ones mean an oval, and an oval wants a drawing.

What does your stool measure across the top? That is your first number. For café seating, the commercial cushion specs pattern covers heavy use, and the dining chair cushions atlas covers the rest of the table.

Ordering a round alongside other sizes

  1. Add each size to one cart

A round seat and a bench cushion can travel in the same order.

  2. Write every dimension

In the personalization box: for example, round seat about 11.5 in across, bench 33 × 13 in.

  3. Attach a reference photo

It shows the edge you want and the seat underneath.

Round cushions are ordered by diameter and thickness only; the stool base or chair frame underneath is not part of a cushion order.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

Can you make a large round cushion?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Send a drawing with the diameter and the thickness you want, and the workshop tells you how to order.

  2. A common question

Do you make round cushions for café bar stools?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Send a reference photo plus the diameter and thickness. For a new café, five 16 in rounds at 4 in thick were quoted as one total, built for heavy café use. Only the cushion and foam are made, not metal stool frames.

  3. A common question

Do you make round floor cushions?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. One 41 in (104 cm) round was made to fit inside a play tent; that particular quote came with shipping included.

  4. A common question

How big can a round floor cushion be?

    The workshop's answer

48 in is the maximum for the tufted and corner floor cushions, so 56 in or 75 in diameter versions aren't made. Two corner cushions can be combined into a half circle instead.

Questions buyers ask next

How long does a custom round cushion take?

A round is one of the simpler shapes to cut, since diameter and thickness define it; what moves the time is the thickness, any piping and how many other custom pieces share the cart. The quote gives the current production and shipping times.

What thickness suits a bar stool cushion?

Café bar-stool rounds were made 4 in (10 cm) thick, with 3.5 in (9 cm) also possible, built for heavy commercial use. Send the diameter, the thickness and a photo of the stool for a quote.

Do you sell the stool or chair frame too?

No. The workshop makes the cushion and its foam only. Metal stool frames, bases, benches and platforms aren't supplied, so the round is sized to a seat you already own.
