Plate Dusty Rose Floor Sofa Under Hanging Pothos Shelf
A lived-in reading corner: floor sofa, trailing plants, a knitted blanket and coffee within reach.
A Reading by HanaModular Floor Sofas & Teddy Couches
Dusty rose velvet floor sofa under a pothos shelf
A low sofa, a shelf of trailing leaves, coffee on the floor. Hana reads a reading corner that thinks like a patio and feels like a bedroom.
The quick answer
A modular floor sofa works as a reading corner when it borrows the patio's habits and keeps indoor fabric. Low separate pieces, a rattan side table and plants overhead come from outdoor lounging; velvet stays inside, where it is softer than any outdoor cloth. If you narrow the sofa, the arms and backrests stay standard, so the seat loses the width.

Five pins, from the pothos shelf overhead to the mug that shows the true seat height.

A patio, brought indoors and made soft
The seat here sits barely higher than the mug beside it.
This is a modular floor sofa in two velvets: a cream body with dusty rose ends. Box edges, no piping. Two separate backrests and a bolster with rose ends. Nothing is fixed. That is the first thing it takes from outdoor furniture.
Think of a patio lounge. Low pieces you can pull apart. A rattan table within reach. Something green overhead. This corner has all three.
The pothos shelf does what a tree does over a deck. It fills the air above a low seat. Floor seating leaves a lot of bare wall, and trailing leaves solve that without another frame or mirror.
The rattan side table with pampas is patio furniture that came inside. The mug and the open hardback on the floor are picnic habits. They also tell you the real sitting height better than any tape measure. For a reading corner, that height is the whole point: legs out, book on the knees, cup on the floor.
What stays indoors: velvet, a quiet color, the knit
Some things should not cross the threshold.
Outdoor fabric is made to be durable. It is comfortable, but it does not feel as soft as indoor velvet. A reading corner is where you sit for an hour with bare arms. Keep the velvet.
The color stays indoors too. Dusty rose on cream sits calmly against the greige wall in soft morning light. No sharp contrast, so the eye rests on the page, not on the sofa. The rose-sided backrests let one person lean while the other end stays open.
The chunky cream knit folded at one end and the book at the other frame the seat like two bookends. The shaggy cream rug is the last indoor choice. Outside, a rug has to dry. In here it only has to be warm.
If you copy the shelf, hang it high, so the leaves fall well above a seated head. Heights and clearances are in the floor sofa buying guide. Where does the morning light reach your floor?
Low seat. Leaves above. The floor becomes the room.
Emerald on paper, the old color in the box
A buyer in the US ordered a floor couch for a small business lounge. After ordering, she changed the color to emerald velvet #34 through an order-help request. Production followed the original note, #38, and the wrong color arrived.
The shop apologized and remade the couch at a reduced price. She also asked for a deeper replacement, 24 x 40 in (61 x 102 cm). The original 20 x 44 in (51 x 112 cm) pieces had already been cut, and she accepted that size.
The lesson is small and exact. Put every change in writing, in the same thread as the order, and ask for a color photo of the fabric before it is cut. How remakes are handled is in remakes for the wrong size or color.
Buyer questions: colors, boxes, narrower widths
- A common question
Which colors does the teddy floor sofa come in? Could I have lavender, gold legs or a dark chocolate base?
The workshop's answerThere are about nine teddy colors plus a new indigo, and all are normally in stock. You can mix colors across the pieces by writing the combination in the order notes. Custom colors such as lavender, a different base color or gold metal are not offered; the bars come in silver chrome only.
- A common question
Only one box arrived, and it's just the metal rods. Is the rest of my sofa coming?
The workshop's answerYes. A multi-piece order ships as several FedEx boxes, and they can arrive on different days even when sent together. Each box has its own tracking. If one shows no movement for a couple of days, the shop contacts FedEx and sends the missing parts itself.
- A common question
Can you make the floor sofa narrower, say 50, 65 or 70 inches wide?
The workshop's answerYes. Order the standard listing and message your dimensions; height and depth stay standard unless you ask otherwise. One custom build was 65 in wide, 35 in deep and 27.6 in high, with a 45 x 25 in seat and a 13.5 in seat height, and it arrived exactly to measure. Narrowing keeps the standard arms and backrests, which take up seat space.

Questions buyers ask next
How low does a velvet floor sofa actually sit?
One custom build sat at 13.5 in (34 cm), well below a standard sofa. That height suits reading with your legs stretched out. If getting up easily matters more to you, read about raising a floor sofa seat before you order.
Can a velvet floor sofa live on a covered patio?
It is better kept indoors. Velvet is chosen for softness; outdoor fabrics are built for durability and do not feel as soft. For a porch or patio, choose an outdoor fabric and keep the velvet for the reading corner.
Is it possible to combine two velvet colors on one floor sofa?
Yes. The sofa in this photo pairs a cream body with dusty rose ends, and color combinations across the pieces are written into the order notes. Keep one color dominant so a small room stays calm.
What if I change my mind about a floor sofa color after ordering?
Send the change in the order thread as soon as possible and ask for a photo of the new fabric before it is cut. In one order, a change sent through a help request was missed, and the couch had to be remade.
