Why twice the bench isn't twice the bill

Every cushion, big or small, gets the same handling: the pattern is cut, the seams are sewn, the zipper goes in. That work is a fixed part of the price, so a cushion with twice the surface area usually costs well under twice as much.

Thickness moves the price only a little between 2 and 5 in (5 and 13 cm). Buy the cushion once, cry once: pick the thickness you will still like in years to come.
