Save- Ivory bolster
A bolster in the same cream keeps the piece tonal, so only texture changes.
- Softly crowned front
The front edge relaxes into a gentle crown, a sign of a softer topper under the leather-look face.
- Sage knit pillow
The only color in the frame is a muted sage that answers the fig leaves.
- Plinth ledge
The walnut base is cut wider than the cushion, leaving a ledge for books and a cup.
- Fiddle leaf fig
Its shadow on the wall does the decorating, so the wall itself can stay bare.

An ivory faux leather daybed cushion in morning sun, set for a full room
Hana reads a quiet cream daybed and asks what it needs when the room fills up.
The quick answer
To seat more people on a daybed cushion, add filled backrests along the wall so it sits like a couch, keep one bolster at an end, and give cups a ledge. This ivory faux leather set does it on a walnut plinth cut wider than the cushion. On a boxed cover, add a little to the mattress height so it zips.
Pinned by Hana: a quiet daybed
Five pins, from the ivory bolster to the fig whose shadow does the decorating.
The numbers match the pins on the plate.

Cream on cream, carried by texture
The daybed sits low on a walnut plinth, in morning sun through sheer linen. Leaf shadows from a fiddle leaf fig move across a bare white wall. The wall needs nothing else.
Everything on the seat is cream or close to it. The cushion is ivory faux leather with self piping and a box edge. The bolster at the right end is the same ivory, so the piece stays tonal and only texture changes: a sage waffle knit, a taupe brushed pillow, an oatmeal nubby weave, all against the smooth leather-look face.
Look at the front edge. It relaxes into a soft crown, a sign of a softer topper under the face. A guest sits into it, not onto it. Height is a feeling, and this one says stay a while.
The walnut base is cut wider than the cushion. That leaves a ledge for a stack of books, and a walnut side table holds a mug and a book at the other end. When a room fills, this matters more than any pillow. People put things down.
Sage is the only color in the frame. It answers the fig. A jute rug keeps the floor warm and plain.
More set-ups are among our daybed cushions and the daybed sofa sets. The smooth face is one of the faux leather fabrics. How many people sit on yours on a busy evening?
A ledge for the cup. A back for the spine. A little room in the cover.
Setting one daybed for a full room
- Add filled backrests along the wall. With backs, a daybed sits like a couch and guests stop perching on the front edge.
- Keep one bolster, at one end. It gives a corner to lean into; the open end takes a second person sitting sideways.
- Let the plinth ledge be the side table. Cups and books need a place that is not the cushion.
- Choose a wipeable face where cups travel. On a smooth leather-look surface, marks tend to wipe off instead of soaking in.
- Hold the palette to one accent. A quiet seat still looks calm when it is full.
A cover that fought back
A buyer got in touch about a daybed set that arrived wrong. The piping was black instead of green. The mattress cover was too shallow, and it fought them every time they pulled it on.
The workshop explained that two orders had been mixed up. The base color, 931, was correct; for a clearer gray it suggested 901, 902 or 904. A fitted slipcover style was not something it could make. So it remade the set at 36 1/4 x 75 5/8 x 10 5/8 in (92 x 192 x 27 cm), with the right piping.
The lesson is small. On a boxed cover, add a little to the mattress height. A tight cover is very hard to zip, and a daybed that hosts will have its cover off for washing more than once. The daybed back cushions Pattern covers the backrest side of the same set.
Buyer questions: covers, backrests and a date to meet
- A common question
I already own two mattresses, about 10 x 35 1/2 x 74 3/4 in (25 x 90 x 190 cm). Can I order just empty covers plus filled backrests?
The workshop's answerYes. Two unfilled mattress covers with filled teddy backrests were quoted together, ordered through a custom option on the daybed cover listing.
- A common question
Can I make my daybed look more like a couch with covers and angled back pillows?
The workshop's answerYes. Two filled angled backrest pillows and two seat covers were quoted as a set, in the buyer's choice of color.
- A common question
I need it by a certain date. Can I pay to have the order hurried?
The workshop's answerSometimes. One order with a date to meet was prioritized for an extra fee and handed to the carrier within 3 days. Tell the workshop your date before you order and it will say whether a rush is possible this time.

Questions buyers ask next
How do I seat more guests on one daybed?
Add filled backrests along the wall so it sits like a couch, keep a single bolster at one end, and give cups a place to land, such as a plinth ledge or a side table.
Why keep the bolster the same ivory as a daybed seat?
In a calm room it lets the daybed read as one form. Here the bolster matches the seat exactly, so only the pillows change texture and a single sage accent does the rest.
How snug should a boxed daybed mattress cover be?
Not snug. One set was remade after a shallow cover proved very hard to get on. Add a little to the mattress height when ordering, so the zipper closes without a fight.
Is a cream faux leather daybed practical with children?
It can be. On a smooth leather-look face, marks tend to wipe off the surface rather than soak in, which is why parents who want a light room ask for it. Try a swatch with a damp cloth first.
