A cream corduroy kids floor sofa, and why it has no piping
Two slabs, two wedges, two round pillows, two bolsters. Hana reads a small play couch in a sage bedroom, and the one line it does without.
Two base slabs, two back wedges, two round pillows and two bolsters, set up as a little loveseat.
The quick answer
A kids floor sofa in corduroy usually looks best with no piping, because the wale already draws fine lines and stacked slabs add edges of their own. Self piping suits a sofa meant to look tailored. Contrast piping outlines every block and turns a small room busy. If the sofa must fit between walls, order it 1/2 to 3/4 in (1 to 2 cm) under the gap.
Two slabs, two wedges, and not one welt
A small sofa with no piping at all is a decision, not an omission.
Look at what is here. Two cream corduroy slabs stacked on a jute herringbone rug. Two back wedges. Two round pillows leaning on them. Two bolsters laid along the seat edge as arms. It is a kids floor sofa set up as a little loveseat, and every piece ends in a plain box edge.
The seat is only two slabs high. That keeps it level with the pine table and chairs. Height is a feeling, and here it feels like a child's.
The walls are two tones of sage, split by a picture rail, in soft north light. Cream is the lightest mass in the room, yet it does not glare, because the honey jute rug warms it from below. The rug also hides crumbs, which a pale rug would not.
Every prop in this kids' room has a job. The white cubby holds wooden blocks and teddy bears and stays white, so the sofa remains the only soft shape. A pine ledge keeps picture books within reach. A bear print and a small lamp sit on the rail. The bed wears a patchwork quilt; linen curtains filter the light. The round pillows and bolsters repeat the curves of the bears and the lamp shade, and soften a room of straight shelves.
Pinned by Hana: from the round back pillow to the jute rug
Five pins, from the round back pillow to the jute rug that hides the crumbs.

- Round back pillow
Loose round pillows lean on the back wedges and can be pulled off for play.
- Bolster arm
A bolster laid along the seat edge does the job of an arm without a rigid frame.
- Stacked base slabs
Two stacked slabs set the seat at child height, level with the pine chairs.
- Jute herringbone rug
The honey jute warms the cream corduroy and hides crumbs better than a pale rug.
- Toy cubby storage
White storage keeps the sofa as the only soft mass in the room.

Self, contrast or no piping: what each does to the line
Piping is a drawn line. On a sofa built from stacked blocks, every line multiplies.
None. Corduroy already carries fine parallel ribs. Leave the edges plain and the eye reads one soft cream mass with curves on top. That is what this room needed.
Self piping. The same corduroy, rolled into the seam. It sharpens each box edge without adding a color. Choose it when the sofa lives in a living room and should look tailored.
Contrast piping. A rust or navy welt would outline both slabs, both wedges, both round pillows and both bolsters. Eight outlines in a small room become a diagram. Keep contrast for a single seat.
The longer comparison is in piping: matching, contrast or none, and more layouts are sketched in kids floor sofa play builds.
What does the corner you have in mind measure, wall to wall?
Two slabs high. No welt. The shelves keep the straight lines; the sofa keeps the curves.
Forty-seven inches was too much
A family wrote to the workshop about a corduroy corner floor sofa for a children's corner. The listed 47 x 47 in (120 x 120 cm) was too big for the space, so they asked for 44 x 44 in (112 x 112 cm). The shop agreed to make it at the same price, ordered through the 47 in option with the real size written in the note.
Then they talked it over and chose about 43 1/4 x 43 1/4 in (110 x 110 cm) instead, to leave some tolerance.
That last change is the one to copy. Corduroy over foam does not slide into a tight gap politely. Leave 1/2 to 3/4 in (1 to 2 cm) of air when a floor cushion must sit between walls. The reasoning is in custom cushion size tolerance.
Buyer questions: missing colors, quotes, a delivery date
- A common question
The navy, red wine, salmon and cinnamon in the photos aren't in the color drop-down. Can I still get them?
The workshop's answerSome soft-fabric colors have run out, so the shop offers the nearest velvet or linen instead: navy velvet #41, wine velvet #22, olive green velvet #35, or a light green in place of salmon.
- A common question
How would a custom tufted linen floor cushion be priced in my exact size?
The workshop's answerThe shop quotes from your measurements and button count, then adds that exact size to the listing so you can order it. Quotes have covered long pieces such as 40 x 82 in and 48 x 82 in, a 47 x 21 in (120 x 53 cm) cushion with 8 buttons, and a 94.5 x 15.75 x 4 in (240 x 40 x 10 cm) floor cushion.
- A common question
Can the sofa arrive on an exact date, or only after I'm back from a trip?
The workshop's answerAn exact day can't be promised, because transit time varies. The shipment can be timed to arrive on or after a date you give, written in the personalization box or sent as a message, and you can ask for it to be prioritized to arrive before a date.

On a kids floor sofa built from stacked slabs, skip the piping: the corduroy wale already draws the lines, and a contrast welt outlines all eight pieces.

Questions buyers ask next
Should a kids floor sofa have piping?
It does not need it. Unpiped box edges keep a stacked sofa soft and quiet, and corduroy's wale already adds texture. Self piping gives a crisper, more tailored outline; contrast piping suits a single seat better than a set of six or eight pieces.
Is corduroy a good fabric for a play couch?
Corduroy is soft and warm on bare legs, and its ribbed wale gives a plain color some texture. Cream shows more than a dark shade; the gallery here includes the same kind of sofa in charcoal gray corduroy for a busier room.
How much room should I leave around a floor sofa that fits between walls?
Order it about 1/2 to 3/4 in (1 to 2 cm) under the wall-to-wall gap. The family in this Reading first asked for 44 in, then settled on about 43 1/4 in (110 cm) so the corduroy would slip in without forcing.
Can the pieces of a modular kids sofa be rearranged later?
Yes, that is the point of a modular set. The slabs, wedges, round pillows and bolsters are separate pieces, so the loveseat in the photo can be taken apart for play and rebuilt. The round pillows lift straight off the wedges.
