The Cutting Table · a question, worked through

Can my furniture store buy teddy sofas in bulk?

Three or four sofas a month is a trade conversation, not a checkout. Here's what gets asked first, and what to have ready before you write.

The quick answer

Yes, a furniture store can buy teddy sofas in bulk or on a regular basis: the workshop is the manufacturer and agrees trade terms directly. Send how many units you need, your target market and how often you'll reorder. Large or regular orders get a bulk price, urgent units can go by air express, which is quick and costly, and the rest by cheaper sea freight.

Key facts

  • Trade, reseller and repeat inquiries are handled by direct contact.
  • A wholesale inquiry needs target quantity, market and reorder frequency.
  • Large or regular orders have been given a bulk price, agreed directly.
  • Air express is the fast route for bulk units, but it is expensive; ask for the timing with the quote.
  • Non-urgent units can travel by sea freight.
  • Dropshipping depends on the destination market.
  • Teddy is a fabric style, not a brand.

Have it made

Have Maggie’s workshop cut this for you

I once cut a lovely cushion two inches short, and I have not forgotten it. That is why the workshop goes over your measurements with you on the phone. — Maggie

Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.

Fabric · Foam · Pipingwhat the workshop will confirm with you

Fabric
Teddy is a fabric style, not a brand.
Foam
The core: its density and thickness set the feel.
Piping
The corded seam edge: matching, contrast or none.
Only for this request: no marketing calls or texts. Outside the US, add the country code.
In inches: length × depth × thickness, plus any angles or cut corners.

* Required. A member of the workshop team will call you to talk it through; nothing is charged and nothing is made until you have agreed on every detail with them.

We use these details only to answer this request and make your cushion: your name and contact details, the cushion details and photos you send, the page you came from and the ad or link that brought you, if any. The workshop that makes the cushions receives them. We don't sell them or share them for advertising, and we delete requests after 24 months. Privacy notice for requests.

How a trade thread usually runs

  1. Store: “We sell three or four sofas a month.”

Say it plainly. Regular volume is exactly what the workshop wants to hear about.

  2. Workshop: “How many, where, how often?”

Target quantity, target market, reorder frequency. Those three answers set the terms.

  3. Terms move to direct contact

Trade pricing isn't a listing price. It's agreed one to one, and large or regular orders get a bulk price.

  4. Store: “A few of these are urgent.”

Urgent units go by air express, the quick route, and it isn't cheap. The rest go by sea freight.

  5. Store: “Could you dropship for us?”

That depends on the market, so name yours. At one point Europe couldn't be served at all.

Why the split shipment is the sensible default

Right, then. Air express on a whole bulk order is the fastest way to spend your margin. The sensible pattern is to fly in what the showroom floor needs this week and let the rest come by sea, slower and a good deal cheaper.

A word on the name, dear: teddy is a fabric style, not a brand. A trade order names the sofa model and the teddy fabric color for each unit, just as a retail order would. The boucle and teddy family and the modular floor sofas atlas show what you'd be stocking, and the commercial cushion specs pattern covers what to specify for hard use. How many units would your first order be?

Put these in your first message

  • Number of units for the first order
  • Your target market
  • How often you expect to reorder
  • Which units are urgent and which can wait for sea freight
  • Sofa model and fabric color code for each unit

Air-ship the teddy sofas the store needs first and send the rest by sea freight; express on a whole bulk order is the expensive way.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

I resell sofas and order three or four a month. Is there a trade discount?

    The workshop's answer

Trade inquiries move to direct contact to discuss terms. Large multi-piece orders have been given a bulk price, agreed one to one.

  2. A common question

Do you offer bulk pricing for repeat orders?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. For large quantities, such as 20 sets of sofa support bars, or regular repeat purchases, there's a bulk discount, and the details are agreed directly.

  3. A common question

We're a furniture store. Can we buy teddy couches at wholesale prices?

    The workshop's answer

Yes; the first question back is how many. Air express is quick but expensive, so urgent units go by air and the rest by sea freight.

  4. A common question

Is there a catalog or a minimum order?

    The workshop's answer

No wholesale tier, line sheet, catalog or minimum. Everything is handmade at one producer price per piece, with volume reductions for larger runs of one size, worked out in the quote.

  5. A common question

How long does a bulk order take to make?

    The workshop's answer

Bulk orders are made to order: five large bench sets were quoted at about 10 days of production, plus delivery. A rush date inside a week couldn't be met for that order, so get your timing in writing.

Questions buyers ask next

Is teddy a brand name or a fabric?

A fabric. Teddy is a fabric style, not a brand, so a trade order names the sofa model and the fabric color code for each unit, the same way a single retail order does.

Does a bulk sofa order have to ship all at once?

No. The usual advice is to send the urgent units by air express and the remaining units by sea freight, which is slower and much cheaper for volume.

Can the workshop dropship sofas to my customers?

It depends on the destination market, so name it in your first message. At one point Europe couldn't be served, and a Europe-focused dropship request was turned down for that reason.
