The Cutting Table · a question, worked through

Which green is the cushion in your main photo: khaki, mint, emerald or olive?

Buyers see olive, moss, sometimes emerald. The fabric chart calls that green by a quieter name.

The quick answer

Choose Khaki: the olive or moss green in the main listing photos, including the green bench cushion, is the color called Khaki, not mint or emerald. The workshop says you'll receive the same green as in the picture. A separate olive green sits on the swatch, but Khaki is closer to most olive references buyers send.

“Is it mint or emerald?”

Neither. Mint is a cool, milky green with blue in its veins, and emerald is a jewel that wants candlelight. The cushion in the main photo is quieter than both: a moss green with a little brown underneath, the green of an olive grove at dusk. On the chart it is called Khaki, and the workshop says you'll receive the same green you see in the picture.

“But it looks olive to me.”

It does, and that is the trap. There is a separate olive on the swatch, and it is not the photo color. When buyers send an olive reference, a sofa, a paint chip, a picture, Khaki is usually the closer match.

Daylight never lies; your screen sometimes does. The screen versus daylight Pattern explains why, and sage, olive and khaki cushions shows these greens living in real rooms. What is your olive reference, my friends?

“And for the green sofa?”

There the workshop suggested Oil Green, another listed green. On the floor couch listing, Khaki is a soft fabric, so check which chart your code comes from before you order a floor cushion or a bench cushion.

Order Khaki to get the green bench cushion in the main photo; the separate olive on the swatch is a different shade.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

Which green is the bench cushion in the main photo? Mint or emerald?

    The workshop's answer

Neither. Choose Khaki to get the color shown in the main picture.

  2. A common question

Which green is the cushion in your photos?

    The workshop's answer

Khaki. The shop says you will receive the same green as in the picture, and for the green sofa it also suggested Oil Green.

  3. A common question

The green in your photo looks olive. Which color do I pick?

    The workshop's answer

Khaki, which is the olive-moss green in the photos. A separate olive green exists on the swatch, but Khaki is closer to most olive references customers send.

  4. A common question

Can you just pick the color or piping for me?

    The workshop's answer

The workshop prefers you choose, since color is personal, but it will suggest codes on request and send close-ups. Narrow your list to 2 or 3 codes; you can switch before production.

Questions buyers ask next

Is Khaki a green or a tan on this chart?

A green. Khaki here is the olive-moss shade in the main listing photos, not the sandy tan of khaki pants, which is why buyers ask before ordering.

Can I write 'green like the listing picture' instead of a code?

Yes. Choosing Khaki, or writing 'green like the listing picture' in the order notes, gets the color shown in the photo. An interior designer's client ordered it exactly that way.

What is Oil Green, and when is it suggested?

Oil Green is another listed green, and the workshop suggested it for the green sofa. For the bench cushion in the main photo, the answer stays Khaki.
