Can I get fire-retardant fabric or foam for my cushions?
Also asked as:Is the material fire retardant? Can I get fireproof foam for the cushions?
Mustard corduroy, ochre in the late light, and no fire retardant in the cloth or the foam beneath it. Here is what the workshop can change, and the one thing it can't.
SaveThe quick answer
Standard cushion fabrics and foam are not fire retardant, because no fire retardants are used by default. A fire-retardant fabric collection is available on request, but fire-retardant foam is not. If local rules require compliant filling, order the covers only and buy fire-retardant foam where you live, as one buyer did with velvet covers.

| Foam insert | No fire retardants | Not available; buy compliant foam locally |
| Covers-only order | Cover sewn to your size | Pair it with compliant foam from a local supplier |

Velvet covers, filling found close to home
A buyer got in touch needing cushions whose filling met the fire rules where they live. The workshop couldn't supply fire-retardant foam, and it said so plainly.
So the buyer ordered the velvet covers alone, cut to size, and bought compliant foam locally. The covers came from the atelier; the filling came from down the road. It is the route I would point you to as well.
Ordering covers for foam you'll buy yourself
Check which rule applies
Fire requirements differ by country and by use. For US homes, the TB 117-2013 Pattern explains the standard most buyers ask about.
Ask about the fire-retardant fabric collection
If the cover must comply too, ask for the collection before you fall for a color. An olive linen has been offered in it, but replies have varied, so confirm your exact code.
Order the covers only
Give the exact size of the foam you'll buy. The cushion covers hub and the covers for existing foam Pattern show how that fit is measured.
Buy compliant foam locally
Choose thickness and firmness from a supplier near you who can document that the foam meets your rule.
Why the linen carries no coating either
My friends often ask about the finish in the same breath. The linens carry no water-repellent coating, and the standard fabrics no fire retardant. What your hand meets is the cloth itself, its slub and its dry, cool touch.
The fabrics come from a mill certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 (03.T.3239). If you are weighing untreated foam on purpose, flame-retardant-free cushions sets out that side, and the glossary entry on flame retardant defines the term. This ochre-mustard bolster lives on the corduroy shelf. Which rule does your room answer to?
Cushion fabrics and foam carry no fire retardants by default; if your rules demand them, order covers only and buy compliant foam locally.

Questions buyers ask next
Is the fire-retardant fabric collection always available?
Replies have varied. One said no fire-retardant fabric was on hand, while others offered the collection on request, including an olive linen. Ask for current availability and the exact codes before you settle on a color.
Is there a fire-resistant choice for tufted floor cushions?
A fire-resistant fabric option has been offered for tufted floor cushions. The filling still can't be supplied fire retardant, so confirm what goes inside before ordering and plan the cover and the core as two separate decisions.
Can the linen be ordered with a water-repellent finish?
The linens carry no water-repellent coating. If rain is the worry rather than flame, look at the outdoor acrylic fabrics, which are made for weather, and keep linen for rooms indoors.
