The Cutting Table · a question, worked through
What color is number 26 on your chart? I can't tell from the swatches.
A number is steadier than a name, and far steadier than a phone screen. Here is how these questions usually unfold, and what each number turned out to be.

The quick answer
Ask the workshop and it names the color behind any chart number, sends the full chart link and larger close-ups, and confirms the number with you before production. On the floor-cushion linen chart, 26 is brown, 28 dark gray, 37 light gray, 38 a blue linen and 19 the cream in the main photo. If chart and listing numbers differ, your chart pick wins.

A fabric reads one way at noon and another at dusk. Mention your light, and the workshop will weigh it with you. — Élodie
Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.
“What color is 26?”
It depends which chart you are holding, my friends, and that is the whole trick. On the floor-cushion linen chart, 26 is a brown. On another chart, 26 is rose, standing between a maroon 25 and a pink 27. Same two digits, two very different rooms.
So always write the fabric with the number: linen 26, velvet 64, never a bare 26. The workshop reads it back to you by name before anything is cut, and that small ritual has saved more than one sofa from the wrong mood.

| Linen | 26 | Brown |
| Linen | 28 | Dark gray |
| Linen | 37 | Light gray (11 is close) |
| Linen | 38 | Blue linen |
| Another chart | 25 / 26 / 27 | Maroon / rose / pink |

| Velvet (an RV quote) | 4 / 13 | Dark beige / beige |
“It looks purple on my screen. Is anthracite gray?”
Daylight never lies; your screen sometimes does. Anthracite and indigo can read purplish on a phone, and tobacco can turn orange in a sunlit photo. When a buyer asked whether indigo leaned blue or purple, the shop sent larger close-ups of single colors, indigo laid beside ice blue, so the difference sat side by side instead of in memory.
For anything that must agree with a rug or a painted wall, read the screen versus daylight Pattern and the notes on ordering swatches. Which color in your room is the one the cushion has to answer to?
“Your chart and the listing don't match.”
It happens. The rule is simple: the shop uses the color you picked from the chart it sent you. Quote that number with its fabric, confirm it when asked, and it becomes the order. The floor cushions and velvet pages carry the charts in their own context.
Photos shift color: tobacco can look orange in daylight, and anthracite or indigo can look purplish on a screen, so confirm the chart number before production.

Buyer questions
- A common question
Which colors are the numbers on your chart? I want a dark gray, a medium blue or a pink.
The workshop's answerOn the linen chart, 26 is brown and 28 dark gray, and the blue linen is 38. On another chart, 25 is maroon, 26 rose and 27 pink, and number 4 is yellow-green. Tobacco can look orange in photos because of daylight.
- A common question
Which number matches the cushion in the main photo, and what if the chart and listing disagree?
The workshop's answerIn the linen range, 19 is the cream-white in the main photo, and the light gray is 37, with 11 similar. Velvet 64 is emerald green. If the chart the shop sends numbers colors differently from the listing swatch, the color you picked from the chart is used.
- A common question
Is anthracite more dark gray or purple, and is indigo bluer than it is purple?
The workshop's answerPhotos can shift tones, so the shop sent its full chart link and larger close-ups of single colors, such as indigo next to ice blue, and asked the buyer to confirm the color number before production.
- A common question
The sofa colors look different in every photo. Can I see real ones?
The workshop's answerYes, ask for real-life customer photos of any sofa color. In person, brick is a rust orange, the green fairly deep, the brown quite dark and the white lighter than in the styled photos.
Questions buyers ask next
Why does the same chart number mean different colors?
Numbers repeat across the fabric charts, and each chart assigns them its own colors. That is why 26 is brown linen on one chart and rose on another. Writing the fabric with the number, such as linen 26 or velvet 64, removes the doubt.
Can I get a close-up photo of one color before I order?
Yes. The shop sends its full color chart link plus larger close-up photos of individual colors on request, for example indigo beside ice blue. Look at them on more than one screen, and near a window if you can.
What if I realize I picked the wrong color number after ordering?
Message the shop with the correct number and fabric before production starts, and the order is updated. Once the fabric has been cut, the cushion is made in the original color, so send the change as soon as you notice it.
