The Cutting Table · a common question
My old fabric color code isn't in the chart anymore. Can I still get it?
Also asked as:Navy blue isn't coming up in the dropdown.Did the fabric change name?
A missing number on a color chart is a question, not a verdict. Often the color is still there, wearing a new number.
The quick answer
Often, yes: ask the workshop before you pick a substitute, because a fabric color missing from the chart may only be renumbered, may be re-added for your reorder, or, if truly discontinued, can be replaced with the nearest available code. The floor-cushion rust velvet that was number 14 became number 17, at the same price.
SaveKey facts
- The floor-cushion rust velvet was renumbered from 14 to 17, with no price change.
- The workshop can re-add a missing color to the chart so a buyer can reorder an exact match.
- Repeat orders in the same size and color, or the same size in a new color, are possible.
- Discontinued codes are removed from the chart and can't be used; piping T-317 was one.
- For a discontinued code, the workshop suggests the closest available replacement.
- Floor-cushion charts use numbers; bench-cushion charts use letter and number codes.
- Fabric swatches are roughly palm-sized, about 4 x 4 to 6 x 6 in (10 x 10 to 15 x 15 cm), and are the safest way to judge a stand-in color.
- A color that has run out and must be re-woven at the mill adds time to the order, so ask about stock before you settle on it.

Color is easier to settle in a conversation than on a screen. Tell the workshop about the room and the light it gets, and the fabric choice follows. — Élodie

Four reasons a color code disappears
| What happened | Real example | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Renumbered | Rust velvet 14 became 17, same price | Order the new number |
| Dropped from the site | Soft fabric 902 | Ask; it can be re-added for your reorder |
| Discontinued | Piping T-317 | Name the main fabric it was paired with; take the nearest code |
| Ran out of stock | Soft-fabric navy, red wine and salmon | Navy velvet #41, wine velvet #22, or a light green for salmon |
Which fabric chart did the old color code come from?
Color codes are chart-specific. Floor-cushion charts use plain numbers; bench-cushion charts use letter and number codes. So a number that seems to have vanished may belong to a different chart, or it may have moved: the warm rust velvet that was 14 on the floor-cushion chart is 17 now, same cloth, same price.
Before you choose again, send the workshop your old code and which listing it came from. The glossary entry on fabric codes explains how they're built, and the dye lot Pattern covers matching cushions ordered months apart.
When the color is truly gone
Some soft-fabric colors ran out in 2023. When that happens, the workshop offers the nearest velvet or linen: navy velvet #41 for navy, wine velvet #22 for red wine, olive green velvet #35, or a light green in place of salmon. For discontinued piping, name the main fabric it was paired with and the workshop suggests the closest code.
Which color are you trying to find again, my friends? Ask for swatches of the stand-ins and look at them beside your old floor cushion by a window. Daylight never lies; your screen sometimes does.
A discontinued piping code can still be matched: tell the workshop which main fabric it was paired with, and it suggests the nearest code.

- A common question
Can I reorder a color that has disappeared from your chart?
The workshop's answerYes. When soft fabric color 902 vanished from the site, the workshop added it back to the chart so the buyer could reorder an exact match. Repeat orders in the same size, or the same size in a different color, are also possible.
- A common question
The color number I want isn't in the dropdown anymore. Which do I pick?
The workshop's answerColor charts get updated. The rust shade that used to be number 14 became number 17, at the same price.
- A common question
The navy, red wine and salmon in the photos aren't in the dropdown. Are they available?
The workshop's answerSome soft-fabric colors ran out in 2023. The workshop offered the nearest velvet or linen alternative: navy velvet #41, wine velvet #22, olive green velvet #35, or a light green instead of salmon.
Questions buyers ask next
Does a renumbered color cost more?
Not in the case on record: the floor-cushion rust velvet moved from number 14 to number 17 at the same price. If a familiar shade shows up under a new number, ask the workshop to confirm it's the same fabric.
Is a floor-cushion color number the same as a bench-cushion code?
No. Codes are chart-specific: floor-cushion charts use plain numbers, while bench-cushion charts use letter and number codes. Always say which listing your old code came from when you ask.
Can I order the same cushion again in a new color?
Yes. Repeat orders are possible in the same size and color, or in the same size with a different color, which helps when an old shade is gone but you want the new cushion to match in shape.
