Can you make a custom-shaped floor cushion for my corner or reading nook?

Also asked as:Can you make a custom-shaped floor cushion?I have an odd-shaped corner in a room.

Yes. Every odd corner is a short list of honest measurements; the shape only decides which ones. Here's the list for each shape, partner.

The quick answer

A floor cushion can be made to the shape of your corner, bay or reading nook when you send the shape and measurements before ordering. Add a few room photos taken from a distance and a sketch; for a curve, the two straight sides are enough. The workshop confirms any size-based customization fee up front, and matching back pillows can be added.

Why a big shape doesn't cost like a square

A large custom shape is priced for its size and its cut, so it won't drop to the price of a standard square cushion. A bay-nook floor cushion spanning three 46 in (117 cm) window sections is a lot of foam and a long curved seam, and the quote reflected that. Whether a fee applies at all depends on size, and the workshop says so before you pay.

For the geometry, see measuring a curved cushion. Angled nooks start in the bay window cushion atlas and the bay window calculator, and the corner reading nook sketches show finished builds. Which edge of your nook is the open one?

Before you order

  1. Draw the shape on paper and write a length on every straight edge.
  2. Photograph the space from across the room, not up close.
  3. Mark which numbers are wall sizes and which are cushion sizes.
  4. Decide on back pillows; a 6 in (15 cm) back pillow has been added to a corner cushion after the fact.
  5. Wait for the shape to be confirmed, then pick your color number on the custom listing.

A corner floor cushion with backrests needs one extra number: the height from the floor to the top of the backrest, such as 14 in.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

Can you make a floor cushion shaped to fit a corner?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Send the dimensions, a few photos of the corner and a sketch of the shape if you have one. One buyer later added a matching 6 in (15 cm) back pillow, and one end can be widened for an open-corner layout.

  2. A common question

Can you make a floor cushion for a curved space, like a foyer by a railing?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Draw the shape on paper with sizes and send a photo taken from a distance. For a quarter-round, the two straight sides are what the workshop needs to calculate the curve.

  3. A common question

Could you make a hexagon-shaped floor cushion to fit inside a play structure?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. The workshop sends a reference drawing and asks you to mark two key measurements on it.

  4. A common question

Can you make a corner floor cushion with backrests for a 66 in corner with 44 in sides?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. The workshop first checked that those were wall sizes and that the 14 in height ran from the floor to the top of the backrest. The color was then picked by number on the custom listing.

Questions buyers ask next

What size floor cushion suits a reading nook?

About 40 x 40 in (102 x 102 cm) suits a toddler's reading corner, and 32 in (80 cm) square is cozy for a 4-year-old. For an adult, choose the largest, 48 x 48 in (122 x 122 cm). Mark the size on the floor first.

The order form takes one photo. How do I send several drawings?

Upload one image and write 'drawings sent via message', then send the rest in the chat or merge them into one image. If attachments are blocked, wait for the shop's first reply or send them by email.

Should a long, shaped nook cushion be one piece or sections?

One piece is often possible, but it costs more and fits less reliably. For long, stepped or wrap-around seats the workshop recommends sections, which sit neater and are easier to wash.
