A Reading by HanaKids' Floor Sofas & Play Couches
An ivory corduroy kids floor sofa, seen from a toddler's height
The camera sits low. The pillows look almost as big as the child. That is the point.
SaveThe quick answer
Style a kids floor sofa from the child's height: round corduroy pillows with a side band, one bolster across the front, and wall decals placed where a small child looks up. Keep the palette to soft whites and grays so the corner stays calm, and let the texture of the wale do the decorating.
Buyer questions
Asked before a move, and about a return. The answers are the workshop's own.
- A common question
We are moving soon. Can I order now at the sale price and have it arrive after we move in?
The workshop's answerIt has been done: buyers ordered, put their earliest delivery date in the order note or a message, and the workshop held the order and shipped it to arrive on that date once it had the exact delivery address. When the marketplace's shipping window ran out during a hold, the order showed as shipped but stayed with the workshop until the buyer asked.
- A common question
Can I choose the day it arrives, so nothing lands before a certain date?
The workshop's answerYes, it has been arranged: place the order and leave a note, and past orders for buyers in the middle of a move were held and shipped later, to land no earlier than their date.
- A common question
If I want to return it, how does that work, and who pays the return shipping?
The workshop's answerIn that buyer's case, the workshop said a damaged arrival would be replaced or refunded, and a return for any other reason would travel at the buyer's shipping cost, refunded once the item was back; it couldn't estimate that shipping in advance. Terms are the workshop's to state, so ask before you order.
Now, the reading
Why the camera kneels
The photograph is taken just above seat height. From there the round pillows look almost as big as the child. That is how a kids floor sofa feels to the person it was made for.
Read the props one at a time.
The round pillows are not flat discs. Each has a side band, a gusset, that gives it depth like a small drum. The wide wale runs straight across each face and stays even to the edge.
The bolster lies across the front. Its ribs wrap the whole length, so it looks padded from every side a child might climb from.
The seat top meets the toddler at chest height. Low enough to climb. High enough to lean on. Children measure comfort with their whole body.
The cloud, moon and star decals sit where the child looks up, not where an adult looks across. They share the fabric's soft whites and grays, so nothing shouts. Kneel in your own room for a minute. What does your child see from there?
The wall is gray-green.
The corduroy is ivory.
The child is the only bright thing in the room.
Pinned by Hana: five points at child height
Five points, read from the pillow faces up to the decals on the wall.

- Round pillow face
The wide wale runs straight across the round face and stays even to the edge.
- Gusset band
A side band gives each round pillow real depth, like a drum.
- Front bolster
The bolster ribs wrap its length, so it looks padded from every angle.
- Toddler at seat edge
The seat top sits at a toddler's chest height here.
- Cloud wall decal
Decals placed where a child looks up make the corner feel like theirs.

How to copy the corner
- Plan the corner from the child's eye level, not yours.
- Choose round pillows with a side band, so they read as shapes, not discs.
- Lay one bolster along the front edge as a soft rail.
- Hang decals at the height a small child looks up to.
- Keep to two or three soft colors and let the wale add texture.
Three walls, one heater, five colors
A teacher in the US measured a classroom corner with three walls. One was blank at 60 in (152 cm). One held a sink at 47.5 in (121 cm). The third had a heater that had to stay clear.
The plan came together with the workshop: a 60 in (152 cm) seat and a 47.5 in (121 cm) seat, each with a backrest, both 24 in (61 cm) deep with round armrests, and three 24 x 24 in (61 x 61 cm) squares for the heater side. Yellow, fuchsia, tobacco, parliament and red.
Then the total arrived, and the teacher canceled. They had read the lowest price on the listing as the price of each cushion. It was the price of a fabric swatch.
- Sizes
- 60 and 47 1/2 in (152 and 121 cm) seats with backrests, 24 in (61 cm) deep; 3 squares 24 x 24 in (61 x 61 cm)
- Fabric
- Yellow, fuchsia, tobacco, parliament and red
The lesson: Get the whole plan priced early; the lowest price on a listing is often a fabric swatch, not a cushion.
Hang wall decals above a kids floor sofa at the height a small child looks up to, not at adult eye level. The corner becomes theirs.

Questions buyers ask next
How high should the seat of a kids floor sofa be?
Low enough for a small child to climb onto alone. In this photograph the seat top meets a toddler at about chest height: low enough to clamber up, high enough to lean on while standing.
Why do round pillows on a play couch need a side band?
A side band, or gusset, turns a round pillow from a flat disc into a small drum with real depth. It keeps a clear outline on a play couch and gives small hands an edge to hold.
Which colors keep a kids' corner calm?
Two or three soft ones. Here ivory corduroy, cream and a gray-green wall share one quiet tone, and the decals repeat the whites and grays. A wide wale adds interest without adding another color.
