The Cutting Table · compared on the table
My payment says 'processing'. Is my order still going ahead?
Also asked as:My payment is in processing. Did it go through? The payment is showing as reserved.
A payment that says processing is a payment waiting on a bank. The workshop can't make a bank answer faster, but it doesn't sit idle while it waits.
SaveThe quick answer
Yes, your order is still on: a 'processing' payment usually means your bank or card issuer is holding the charge, sometimes because it flagged a large furniture purchase. The order stays open and the workshop starts preparing it, but it ships only once the marketplace completes the payment. Call your bank to release it; pay-later methods usually clear the next business day.
What each payment status means for your order
| Payment shows | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Processing | Your bank or card issuer is holding the charge | Call the bank and ask them to release it |
| Processing, paid with pay-later | Normal clearing time | Wait; it usually clears the next business day |
| Cleared on a Saturday or Sunday | Paid, but the workshop is closed | It ships on Monday |
| Declined by the bank | The marketplace cancels the order | Place it again, or pay through the workshop's website |
| Bank says paid, the marketplace says not | A mismatch on the marketplace side | Contact marketplace support |

Have Harlan’s workshop cut this for you
Old upholsterers will tell you the real cutting happens in the conversation, long before the shears come out. Tell the workshop what you sit on, and they will talk it through with you. — Harlan
Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.
Why the work starts before the money lands
A seam is a promise, and so is an open order. When a payment shows processing, the order stays open and the workshop starts preparing it while the bank makes up its mind. Most of the time the bank is only holding an online charge, and a large furniture purchase, a modular floor sofa set, say, is just the kind of thing a card issuer likes to double-check.
What waits is the shipping. Nothing leaves until the marketplace completes the payment. Once it does and the boxes reach you, the first 72 hours pattern covers the unpacking.
Has your bank sent a text asking whether the charge was yours? Answer it, my friend. That is often the whole fix.
Clearing a held payment, in order
Call your bank or card issuer
Tell them the furniture purchase was yours and ask them to release the charge.
Give pay-later a day
Pay-later methods usually clear on the next business day without a call.
If the bank declined it, order again
A declined payment cancels the order. Reorder, or pay through the workshop's website; a wrong billing address is fixed the same way.
If the bank and the marketplace disagree, ask the marketplace
Payments sit outside the workshop's control, so marketplace support is the one to sort out a mismatch.
A cushion order with a 'processing' payment is still open; the workshop starts preparing it, and it ships once the bank lets the payment through.

Buyer questions
- A common question
My payment says processing. Has my order been canceled?
The workshop's answerNo. Processing usually means the bank is holding an online payment, sometimes flagged as suspicious. Ask your bank to release it; the order stays open in the meantime and the workshop often starts preparing it.
- A common question
My payment still shows as processing. Will the order ship?
The workshop's answerYes, once the marketplace completes the payment. The workshop begins preparing the order right away but doesn't ship it before then. The workshop doesn't work Saturday or Sunday, so a payment confirmed at the weekend is picked up on Monday.
- A common question
What happens if my bank declines the payment in the end?
The workshop's answerThe marketplace cancels the order. Nothing is lost: you can place it again, or pay through the workshop's own website instead.
- A common question
My bank canceled the order over a billing address. Can I still get my cushions?
The workshop's answerYes. An order canceled by the bank, for example because of a wrong billing address, can simply be placed again.
Questions buyers ask next
Does a processing payment hold up my cushions?
Usually very little, because preparation starts while the bank decides. The wait shows up at shipping: the parcel leaves only after the payment completes, so a quick call to your bank is the fastest way to keep things moving.
Why would a bank hold a payment for cushions?
Card issuers watch for unusual online charges, and a large furniture purchase such as a floor sofa set sometimes trips that alarm. The bank holds the money until you confirm the charge was yours, then releases it.
Who sorts it out when my bank shows paid but the marketplace doesn't?
Marketplace support. Payments run through the marketplace, outside the workshop's control, so the workshop can't see into them or change them. It can confirm whether a payment has arrived on its side.
