The Cutting Table · a checklist answer
FedEx missed me or says my address is wrong. What should I do?
Also asked as:My parcel is stuck in a FedEx hub.Should I contact them, or should you?
Move fast, friend. A parcel sitting at a hub is a boat waiting on the tide, and if nobody calls, the tide carries it back to the sender.
SaveThe quick answer
Call your local FedEx or UPS office with your tracking number as soon as possible to correct the address, rebook delivery or collect from the nearest depot, and tell the workshop too. After repeated failed attempts, or with an incomplete address and no phone number, the parcel is returned to the sender automatically, and re-sending it costs extra.

Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.
The same-day checklist
- Find the tracking number in your order messages.
- Call your local FedEx office (or UPS) with it: correct the address, rebook the delivery, or collect from the nearest depot.
- Message the workshop at the same time; it contacts the carrier from its side too.
- If UPS says only the sender can fix it, pass the exact wording of the exception to the workshop, because it's the one who can act.
- Courier can't get into the building? Ask the workshop to reschedule and to remove the signature requirement so the parcel can be left in the lobby.
Who fixes what
| Problem | Who acts | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Missed delivery | You, with the carrier | Call local FedEx with the tracking number; rebook or collect |
| Address marked incorrect | You, quickly | Correct it with FedEx, or pick up at the nearest depot |
| Stuck at a hub for days | You and the workshop | Call FedEx and ask for delivery; the workshop contacts the carrier too |
| UPS: no building access code | The sender | Message the workshop; it reschedules and can drop the signature requirement |
Why the clock matters
A failed delivery isn't a dead end, but it is a countdown. After repeated attempts, or when the address is incomplete and there's no phone number to call, the carrier sends the parcel back on its own, and sending it out again costs extra.
One parcel went back for exactly that reason: a short address and no phone number. You can't control the weather, but you can put a phone number on the order. When the box finally reaches your porch, unpack the foam with patience; a floor sofa can arrive with its metal bars in a second, smaller box. Is your phone number on the order right now?
When FedEx misses a delivery, carriers often need to hear from the recipient: call the local office with the tracking number the same day, before the parcel goes back.

Buyer questions
- A common question
FedEx missed me and my package seems stuck. What should I do?
The workshop's answerContact your local FedEx office with the tracking number to arrange redelivery or pickup, because they often need to hear from the recipient; the shop contacts FedEx too. Give a phone number with your order: one parcel went back because the address was incomplete and there was no phone number.
- A common question
My parcel has been sitting at a courier hub for days. What now?
The workshop's answerCall FedEx with your tracking number and ask for delivery; the shop contacts the carrier as well. After repeated failed delivery attempts the courier may return the parcel, and re-sending then costs extra.
- A common question
FedEx says my address is incorrect. What do I do?
The workshop's answerContact your local FedEx office as soon as possible with the tracking number to correct the address or collect from the nearest depot. Otherwise the parcel is returned to the sender automatically.
- A common question
The courier couldn't get into my building. What happens next?
The workshop's answerWhen UPS reports no building access code, only the sender can fix it. The shop contacts the carrier, reschedules delivery and can remove the signature requirement so the parcel can be left in the lobby; you can also call the local courier.
Questions buyers ask next
Why does my tracking number show nothing yet?
The label is often created before the carrier collects the parcel, so tracking stays blank until the first pickup scan. Ask for the current delivery estimate from there; if it still looks stuck after that, the workshop checks with the courier.
Can a cushion order go to a PO box or an APO address?
No. FedEx needs a full street address, so PO boxes and APO/AE military boxes can't be used. Give a home street address or a FedEx pickup point instead, and add a phone number.
Can I send the order to a friend's address as a gift?
Yes. Send the recipient's address and the order ships there, packed without any price or invoice inside. Put the address in the order notes as well, so it can be double-checked before dispatch.
