The Cutting Table · a question, worked through

Can I pay for express or faster shipping?

A birthday on Saturday, a couch with nowhere to sit, a holiday table. Speed can be bought, within limits the calendar sets.

The quick answer

Yes: express shipping for a custom cushion is added by buying a separate express-shipping listing, or through a shipping-fee payment link the workshop sends. Ask it to confirm rush dispatch and arrival dates in writing before you pay. Next-day dispatch has been arranged for a buyer with nowhere to sit, but in the last weeks of December delivery dates can't be promised.

How a rush request plays out

  1. Buyer: “I need it fast.”

Give the date and what it's for. A gift, a guest, an empty living room.

  2. Workshop: “Add the express listing.”

The upgrade is its own item, bought alongside the cushion, as it was for a zippered velvet cover about 14 x 17 x 3 1/2 in (36 x 44 x 9 cm).

  3. Or: “Here's a payment link.”

If the order is already placed, the workshop sends a shipping-fee link for express instead.

  4. Then the clock runs

Ask for the dispatch and arrival dates, then leave a margin.

  5. Unless it's late December

High order volume in the last weeks of the year means dates can't be promised.

What express buys, and what it can't

Express buys you a faster road. It doesn't shrink the cutting table, and it can't clear the late-December backlog, when parcels pile up like snow on a porch rail. Plan around that and express does its job.

It has done more than its job before. A buyer with nowhere to sit got next-day dispatch, and a gift running late went out by expedited shipment. If yours is a gift, send the recipient's address and it ships there with no price or invoice inside.

For quick turnarounds, a cushion cover over foam you already own is the lightest build; the covers-only pattern shows how to measure it. What date are you counting back from, friend?

Put these in the rush message

  • The date it must arrive by
  • Whether it's a gift going to another address
  • Final fabric code and size, so nothing waits on a question
  • A reachable phone number for the courier

Express shipping on a custom cushion is its own line item: buy the separate express listing with the order, or pay the shipping-fee link the workshop sends.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

I need it fast. Do you offer express shipping?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Express delivery is an upgrade bought through a separate listing, added next to the item, as it was for a 14¼ x 17¼ x 3½ in (36 x 44 x 9 cm) zippered velvet cover.

  2. A common question

    Can you expedite the shipping?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. The workshop has dispatched the next day for a buyer with nowhere to sit, and sent a late gift order by expedited shipment.

  3. A common question

Can I pay for faster shipping to get it before the holidays?

    The workshop's answer

You can pay for it, but express can't guarantee a holiday date. A shipping-fee link covers express on an order already placed; in the last weeks of December, high order volume means dates can't be promised, so order earlier and put the date in your first message.

  4. A common question

Can you ship it straight to the person as a gift?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Send the recipient's address and it ships there without any price or invoice inside. Put the address in the order notes so it can be double-checked.

Questions buyers ask next

Does paying for express also speed up making the cushion?

Express mainly speeds the trip. Production can be prioritized when you give a date, but a custom piece still needs its making time, so ask for both the dispatch and the arrival date.

Can express be added to an order I've already placed?

Yes. The workshop sends a shipping-fee payment link for the express upgrade on an existing order. Give the date you need it by in the same message.

Will express get a gift there by the end of December?

Not guaranteed. In the last weeks of December, high order volume means delivery dates can't be promised even with express. Order earlier in the month and give the date in your first message.
