Can you make cushions for my built-in couch, daybed or mattress to turn it into a sofa?

A built-in bench is already a sofa. It is only missing the soft parts.

A full-length striped mattress and two matching bolsters turn a rattan frame into a sunroom sofa. The stripes run front to back, which makes the seat look deeper.

The quick answer

Yes, cushions for a built-in concrete couch, a daybed or a mattress sofa are made to order from your measurements or a sketch, as seats, back cushions and bolsters, quoted as a set; the quote states the shipping cost. One concrete couch took three 23.5 x 27.5 x 4 in (60 x 70 x 10 cm) seats, an 83 in (211 cm) back cushion and two cylinder armrests.

The mattress that became a sofa

A buyer sent a drawing of a queen mattress, 60 x 80 in (152 x 203 cm), and asked for a sofa.

The cover was sewn closed like a French quilted mattress. No zipper. Flat or tufted, as they chose. The backrest and armrests were French-style, with buttons.

One mattress. A cover, a back, two arms. A different room.

Measure the structure, not the idea of it

A built-in is measured piece by piece. Each seat on its own, then the back, then the arms. The workshop quotes from those numbers, or from a sketch, and the quote lists foam, custom-sewn covers in your fabric and the shipping cost.

For a daybed, you may need less than you think: seat covers and filled angled backrests are enough to read as a couch. The daybed styling Pattern and the daybed cushion sets show real builds, and daybed cushions collects the shapes.

What is your built-in made of, and how deep is the seat?

A daybed can look like a couch with two things added: seat covers and filled angled backrests, sized to the daybed you already own.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

Can you make cushions for a built-in concrete or masonry couch?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Three 23.5 x 27.5 x 4 in (60 x 70 x 10 cm) seats, an 83 x 14 x 2 in (211 x 35 x 5 cm) back cushion and two 23.5 in (60 cm) cylinder armrests were quoted as one set. The shop sent photos of mint and beige plus linen color charts.

  2. A common question

    Three seats with matching backs at 63 x 23½ x 4 in (160 x 60 x 10 cm): is delivery in the price?

    The workshop's answer

In that case, yes: the quote for three seat cushions and three back cushions at 63 x 23.5 x 4 in (160 x 60 x 10 cm) included the foam, custom-sewn covers in the chosen fabric and delivery. Check the shipping line on your own quote.

  3. A common question

I already own a daybed. Can I buy floor-sofa covers and the filled angled backrests so it looks like a couch?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Two filled backrest pillows plus two seat covers were quoted as a set, in the buyer's choice of color.

  4. A common question

Can a floor cushion sofa double as a bed?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Floor cushions are soft yet supportive enough to sleep on, can be joined into a double bed or made in bed sizes, and the soft fabric is recommended over linen for regular sleeping.

Questions buyers ask next

Do I need a drawing, or are measurements enough?

Measurements are enough for straight seats and backs. For a mattress turned sofa or an odd layout, a simple drawing with each piece labeled helps the workshop quote the right set the first time.

Does the cover on a mattress sofa have a zipper?

No. The mattress cover is sewn closed like a French quilted mattress, flat or tufted, and the backrest and armrests are made French-style with buttons to match the look.

Can I see the fabric in real color before choosing?

Yes. The workshop sends color photos and linen charts; for one concrete couch it photographed mint and beige for the buyer. Order swatches too if the exact shade matters in your light.
