The Cutting Table · a question, worked through
My order note asks for a different size than I paid for. What happens now?
Nothing gets cut while the note and the payment disagree. Someone reads every note, and that someone is fussy.

The quick answer
Nothing is cut until your personalization note and your payment agree: the shop checks every order before production. If you paid for fewer cushions or a smaller size than the note asks for, it messages you with a payment link for the balance, or offers to make the size you paid for. If the paid range already covers your exact size, nothing more is needed.

Key facts
- The shop checks each personalization note against the size and quantity paid for.
- Any balance is collected through a custom payment link before production.
- The shop may offer to make the standard size that was paid for instead.
- The size range you select doesn't change the cut; the cushion is made to your confirmed measurements.
- If the paid range already covers your size, no extra payment is needed.
- Covers-only orders cost less than filled cushions, so no balance is due for them.

Have Maggie’s workshop cut this for you
I once cut a lovely cushion two inches short, and I have not forgotten it. That is why the workshop goes over your measurements with you on the phone. — Maggie
Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.
“I picked the wrong range at checkout”
Right, then. The range you click sets the price. It does not set the cut. The cushion is made to the exact measurements you confirm, whether that is about 35½ x 20½ in (90 x 52 cm) or a long 15¾ x 93¼ in (40 x 237 cm) bench pad.
If the range you paid for already covers that size, you owe nothing more. Just message the corrected dimensions before production starts. The personalization note Pattern shows how to write them so nobody has to guess.
“My note says three cushions, and I paid for one”
Every order's note is checked against the size and quantity paid for, before anything is cut. When the payment covers fewer pieces or a smaller size, the shop messages you with a payment link for the balance, or offers to make what you paid for.
One exception, dear: if you only wanted covers, no extra payment is due, because covers cost less than filled cushions.
The 75½-inch bench on a 32-inch payment
A buyer in the US wrote 16 x 75½ in in the note and paid for the 16 x 32 in option. It happens to careful people; the dropdown was simply a size short. The shop caught it, offered a payment link for the difference or the standard size, and in the end settled it kindly: the buyer added one more 16 x 32 in unit to cover the full-length bench cushion. Which number did you type in the note, and which one did you click?
Before you press pay
- Write the exact finished size in the note: length, depth, thickness.
- Pick the range that covers that size. The size-not-on-the-menu Pattern explains which.
- Pay for every cushion the note mentions.
- Covers only: say so plainly in the note.
- Send any corrected dimensions before production starts.
If a custom cushion note asks for three cushions and the payment covers one, nothing gets cut until a payment link settles the difference.

Buyer questions
- A common question
The size range I picked is slightly off. Can you still make my exact size?
The workshop's answerYes. The range doesn't matter for production; the cushion is made to the exact measurements you confirm, such as 35½ x 20½ in (90 x 52 cm) or 15¾ x 93¼ in (40 x 237 cm). If your payment already covers that size, nothing else is needed; message corrected dimensions before production starts.
- A common question
I paid for one cushion, but my note asks for three. What now?
The workshop's answerThe shop checks every order against its note. If the payment covers fewer pieces or a smaller size than you asked for, it messages you before production and sends a payment link for the difference. If you actually wanted covers only, no extra payment is needed.
- A common question
I chose the wrong size at checkout. What happens?
The workshop's answerThe shop compares your note with the size selected. When a note asked for 16 x 75½ in but the 16 x 32 in option was paid for, it offered a payment link for the difference or to make the standard size, then settled it by having the buyer add one more 16 x 32 in unit.
- A common question
I picked the wrong fabric or piping color. Do I have to cancel?
The workshop's answerNo. Before production starts, message the new body fabric and piping codes and the shop updates the order. Once the fabric has been cut, the cushion is made in the original colors.
Questions buyers ask next
Does a bigger size range mean a bigger cushion?
No. The range you select sets what you pay, not what gets cut. The workshop cuts the exact measurements you confirm in the note, so a cushion inside the paid range comes out at your size, not at the range's upper limit.
What if I ordered a custom shape on the rectangle listing?
Reorder on the custom-shape listing, which asks for your drawing and exact measurements, and the shop cancels and fully refunds the rectangle order. The rectangle listing skips the sketch upload, which invites mistakes on odd shapes.
Do I owe more if I only wanted covers?
No. If you paid for filled cushions but only wanted covers, no extra payment is due, because covers cost less than filled cushions. State 'covers only' clearly in the note so the order is read the way you meant it.
