The Cutting Table · a question, worked through
How many fabric samples can I get in one order?
Plenty of kitchen tables have disappeared under swatches, so I understand the urge to ask for every color. Here's what one sample order really brings.

The quick answer
Plan on up to 5 fabric codes per sample order, written in the personalization box. For a longer list, place extra sample orders (30 codes means 6 orders) or trim to your favorites. The shop is often more generous: 6 codes have come in one order, and on the cushion listings one sample purchase can bring a color chart of the whole range.
Key facts

Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.
Why is a sample order capped at 5 fabric codes?
Pull up a chair, neighbor. One sample order is built around 5 fabric codes, written in the personalization box. That line wasn't drawn to be stingy. Very large sample requests were overloading the workshop, and every hour spent cutting swatches is an hour not spent sewing somebody's cushion.
You can mix families in one order: velvet, linen and the soft fabric range, colors picked from each. The fabric code is what you write down, and the swatches Pattern explains how to judge them at home.
So how many colors are truly still in the running at your house?

| Every color in one range | The fabric sample option on a cushion listing | One color chart covering the range |
| Colors for a floor sofa | One fabric sample, noted as for the sofa | Several colors under one shipping-only fee |
The buyer who thought a sample meant a small cushion
A buyer in the US wrote in, a little worried. She wanted to know whether a fabric sample meant fabric only, with no cushion, and whether she could see every color when the menu made her choose just one.
The answer: yes, a sample is fabric only, so you can feel the texture and see the colors in real life. And if the option forces a single color, pick any. The shop sends one color chart that includes them all.
Plan on 5 fabric codes per sample order; on the cushion listings, one sample purchase can bring the whole range's color chart.

Buyer questions
- A common question
Can I order more than 5 fabric samples at once?
The workshop's answerEach sample order is capped at 5 fabrics, because very large sample requests were overloading the workshop. For more, place several sample orders (30 codes means 6 orders) or trim your list to the strongest candidates.
- A common question
How many samples can I choose, and how big are they?
The workshop's answerOne sample order covers 5 fabrics of your choice; write the codes in the personalization or notes box. The pieces are small, roughly palm-sized, so you can judge the true color, texture and weave.
- A common question
How many different fabric types come in one sample order?
The workshop's answerSamples can come from three fabric families: linen, velvet and soft fabric. You pick colors from each and they are sent together.
- A common question
How long do the samples take, and will you ever send more than 5?
The workshop's answerUsually about a week, and up to 10 days in very busy periods. Larger requests have been accepted too, with the extra shipping fee paid through the samples listing.
- A common question
What does 'fabric sample' in the size menu actually get me?
The workshop's answerA fabric swatch only, not a cushion: small pieces to see and feel the colors. To buy a cushion, choose a real size and color; a sample ordered by mistake is canceled and refunded.
Questions buyers ask next
Is there a showroom where I could see the fabrics instead?
No, there is no showroom. Order samples to see the colors in your own daylight, or ask for close-up photos in the chat. Samples are the surest way to judge a color before you commit, so ask how long they're taking right now.
Can samples for a floor sofa be counted toward the sofa order?
Yes. Buy one fabric sample, note that it's for the sofa and list the colors you want. One shipping-only fee covers several colors, it can be deducted from the sofa order, and the workshop can tell you how long the samples will take.
Is every fabric available as a sample?
Most are. The samples listing covers most but not all of the fabrics, so check that your codes appear there and ask in a message if one is missing before you place the sample order.
