The Cutting Table · a checklist answer
Are the floor sofa cushions attached, or will they slide apart?
Also asked as:Attached by Velcro or held by the metal bar?Any Velcro to stop it separating?
No Velcro. No ties. Weight, grip and a steel frame. Each piece lifts free when you want a new shape.
SaveThe quick answer
Floor sofa cushions are not fastened to each other: there is no Velcro and there are no ties. On the classic modular sofa, backrests stay put by their own weight, a non-slip base keeps the cushions from moving, and the metal bars hold the layout. Every piece separates for rearranging. On the convertible model the top section is one piece, and a rug underneath stops sliding.

Classic modular vs convertible floor sofa
| Classic modular | Convertible | |
|---|---|---|
| What's fastened | Nothing | Nothing between the two layers |
| What holds it | Backrest weight, a non-slip base, the metal bars | The weight of the one-piece top section |
| What separates | Every cushion | The top section lifts off the lower couch as a unit |
| If it slides | Check the bars and the base | Put a rug underneath |
Why nothing is fastened
Loose pieces are what make the sofa modular. A seat can become a corner, a chaise, a bed for a guest. Velcro would fight every one of those moves.
So the classic modular floor sofa holds itself together in quieter ways. The backrests are heavy enough to stay where you put them. A non-slip base under the cushions keeps them from creeping. The metal bars keep the outline and don't overlap the separate cushions. The layouts Pattern shows the shapes this allows, and the floor sofa bed Pattern shows it laid flat. How often will you move yours?
Weight keeps the backrests. Grip keeps the seats. Nothing keeps you from changing your mind.
If a floor sofa cushion is sliding
- Confirm which model you have: classic modular or convertible
- Classic: check the metal bars are in place and every joint is seated
- Classic: make sure each cushion sits on its non-slip base
- Convertible: lay a rug under the lower couch
- Still moving: send photos or a short video of the setup
A top cushion that kept creeping forward
A buyer got in touch that the top cushion of a two-seater floor sofa kept sliding forward. The workshop said plainly that it was the first time anyone had reported it, and asked for photos or a short video of the setup before suggesting a fix. A guess would have been faster. A look was more useful.
On the convertible floor couch, the top section is one heavy piece with nothing between the layers; a rug underneath is what stops the slide.

Buyer questions
- A common question
Are the backrest pillows attached with Velcro, and are the seat cushions joined?
The workshop's answerNothing is fastened. The backrests are heavy enough to stay in place without Velcro, the metal bars around the base keep the shape, and every cushion can be separated and rearranged.
- A common question
Does the modular floor sofa have Velcro to keep the pieces together?
The workshop's answerNo Velcro is needed. A non-slip base under the cushions stops them sliding or moving, and the metal back supports don't overlap the separate cushions.
- A common question
On the convertible floor couch, how does the top cushion stay put, and what's the seat size?
The workshop's answerThe top cushion and upper couch are one piece; only the lower couch is separate. It's heavy enough not to fall off when pushed, but nothing between the layers stops sliding, so a rug is suggested. The seat is 39 x 75 in (100 x 190 cm), and the covers are washable.
- A common question
Are the top cushions of the modular couch attached to the base?
The workshop's answerThe backrest and top cushions are attached to each other, but the top section separates completely from the base cushion, which is what makes the sofa modular.
Questions buyers ask next
Why doesn't the modular floor sofa use Velcro between pieces?
Because loose pieces are the point. Weight keeps the backrests in place, a non-slip base keeps the cushions from moving, and the metal bars hold the layout, so every cushion still lifts free when you want to rearrange.
What stops the convertible floor couch's top layer from sliding?
Mostly its weight: the backrest and top cushion are one heavy piece that won't fall off when pushed. There is no anti-slip layer between the two layers, though, so a rug underneath helps keep everything in line.
What should I send if a floor sofa cushion keeps creeping forward?
Photos or a short video of the whole setup, showing the floor, the bars and the cushion that moves. The workshop uses them to suggest the right fix; a forward-sliding top cushion has been reported only rarely.
