Can tufted floor cushions be made to measure?

A tufted cushion has three numbers, and all three can move. The fourth number, how many pieces, is where the real engineering happens.

The quick answer

Yes: tufted floor cushions are made to your custom length, width and height, and the workshop quotes each size on its own. The standard French tufted height is about 4.75 in (12 cm) and can go higher. Very long seats are split into equal pieces, such as a 122 in (310 cm) window seat made as two 61 in (155 cm) cushions.

The numbers a tufted quote needs

A real project

A 132-inch velvet seat, cut in half on purpose

A buyer in the US wanted one tufted velvet seat about 33 x 132 in (84 x 335 cm), with a 30 in (76 cm) high back cushion. The workshop suggested two pieces of 33 x 66 in (84 x 168 cm) instead of one long cushion. Each piece could carry armrests on both ends, four in total, and the order went in by picking the 33 x 66 in size twice, in color 11.

A window seat went the same way: 29 x 122 in (74 x 310 cm) became two tufted linen cushions of 29 x 61 in (74 x 155 cm), color #14, shipped the next day. How long is your seat, end to end?
