How much is a custom daybed or twin-size floor mattress cushion?

Also asked as:Can we do a standard twin size mattress?Twin XL mattress size in the linen?

Big cushions are priced like sails, friend: by the cloth they carry. Here is how real quotes stacked up from twin to double, in proportion rather than dollars.

The quick answer

A custom daybed cushion is quoted by its size, and standard mattress sizes are fine: twin (38 × 73 in), twin XL (38 × 80 in) and a UK double, about 53 × 75 in (135 × 190 cm), have all been made. On past quotes, a double cost roughly twice a twin. Ask for processing and delivery times in writing with the quote.

Why the size decides the number

A daybed cushion is a lot of foam and a lot of cloth, and the quote follows both. Price rises with length times width, though not one for one.

Rain doesn't negotiate. Prices, now and then, do: one large piece came down a little after the buyer asked. Two cushions quoted together have landed a little under two single orders.

For a daybed that takes daily wear, the workshop first asks whether you want linen or velvet. What does your frame measure inside the rails? That number, not the mattress name, is what you send.

Twin, twin XL and double all work for a custom daybed cushion: 38 × 73 in, 38 × 80 in and 53¼ × 74¾ in (135 × 190 cm) have each been cut to order.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

How much for two custom daybed cushions, and how long does it take?

    The workshop's answer

Two daybed cushions in the buyer's own sizes were quoted as one total. Processing and delivery times come with your own quote. For hard-wearing use, the workshop asked whether the buyer preferred linen or velvet.

  2. A common question

Can you make a floor cushion in twin, twin XL or double mattress size?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Twin 38 × 73 in was quoted, twin XL 38 × 80 in was added as an order option, and a UK standard double, 53¼ × 74¾ in (135 × 190 cm), was quoted for the cushion only, at roughly twice the twin.

  3. A common question

What does a large daybed-size cushion cost?

    The workshop's answer

    It depends on size. Seat-only quotes ran from a 50 × 50 in square to 31½ × 95¾ in (80 × 243 cm). A 39¼ × 78¾ in (100 × 200 cm) piece was negotiated down a little, and 36 × 72 in and 38 × 75 in pieces sat close to a twin.

Questions buyers ask next

Is twin XL a standard daybed cushion size?

Yes. Twin XL, 38 × 80 in (97 × 203 cm), was added as an order option after buyers asked for it, so check the size menu first. Other sizes are quoted from your measurements.

Which fabric holds up on a daybed used every day?

For hard-wearing use the workshop asks whether you prefer linen or velvet. Compare the velvet and linen families before you choose a color.

How long until a custom daybed cushion arrives?

Processing comes first, then delivery after dispatch, and both times come with your quote. Leave a margin before any date that matters.
