The Cutting Table · a checklist answer
What do you need from me to give a custom cushion quote?
Also asked as:can I send you my measurements for a quote?is it best to share photos and dimensions here?
Three numbers, a picture of the cloth you like, and a drawing if the seat has a slant. Send those, and the price that comes back is a total, not a guess.
SaveThe quick answer
For a custom cushion quote, send the exact length × width × thickness, the fabric or listing you like, and, for any shape that isn't a rectangle, a drawing with every side measured. Photos of the seat help. The workshop checks the shape and replies with a total price that states the shipping cost, plus a custom purchase link or the listing option to pick.
Key facts
- A quote needs length × width × thickness.
- Name the fabric or product you like; a listing link or screenshot helps.
- Any non-rectangular shape needs a drawing with every measurement written on it.
- Photos, drawings and measurements go in the shop's message thread; email isn't needed.
- Quotes come back as one total, with the shipping cost stated.
- The workshop names the listing option to pick or creates a custom purchase link.
- On the trapezoid listing, production follows your uploaded drawing exactly.

Have Harlan’s workshop cut this for you
Old upholsterers will tell you the real cutting happens in the conversation, long before the shears come out. Tell the workshop what you sit on, and they will talk it through with you. — Harlan
Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.
What goes in the first message
- Length × width × thickness, exact, in inches (centimeters are welcome too).
- The fabric or cushion you like: a listing link or a screenshot.
- For any shape that isn't a rectangle, a simple drawing with every side written on it.
- Photos of the bench, seat or bay, wide enough to show the whole thing.
- All of it in the shop's own message thread. No email needed.
What happens after you press send
The shape is checked
Sometimes the workshop draws its own sketch for you to approve.
A total comes back
One price, with the shipping cost spelled out in it.
You're told how to order
The listing option to select, or a custom purchase link.
Shaped seats carry their drawing
On the trapezoid listing you upload the drawing, with front, back, depth and both angled sides, in the personalization box. Production follows it exactly.
Why I'd ask before ordering anything big
A seam is a promise, my friend, and so is a quote. For large or unusual pieces, asking first is the recommended route, so a long banquette or an angled bay doesn't hang on a few lines typed into a personalization box.
If your seat has slants, run it through the trapezoid cushion calculator and read the Pattern on drawing a custom shape. Long banquette cushions are measured wood to wood. What does your seat measure, end to end?
Two floor cushions longer than a sofa
A buyer got in touch wanting two dark brown floor cushions, one about 28 to 31 in by 98 in and one about 31 by 79 in. Pieces that size are exactly where a quote earns its keep.
The workshop priced the pair as one total and sent a purchase link, so the buyer didn't have to rely on a note in the personalization box alone.
- Measured
- About 28–31 × 98 in (70–80 × 250 cm) and 31 × 79 in (80 × 200 cm)
- What it taught
- The bigger the piece, the more a quote before ordering is worth.
Buyer questions
- A common question
Can I get a price for a custom window seat cushion if I send my measurements?
The workshop's answerYes. Send the sizes and the reply is a price and a purchase link; a tufted linen window seat was quoted this way.
- A common question
Should I send photos and measurements before placing my order?
The workshop's answerYes, that's the recommended way, and you don't need email. Send them in the shop's message thread; the workshop confirms the shape, sometimes with its own sketch to approve, gives a price, then tells you exactly how to order.
- A common question
Can you price custom banquette cushions?
The workshop's answerYes. Send the sizes and the workshop replies with a quote and a custom purchase link.
- A common question
Does a thicker cushion cost more?
The workshop's answerA little between 2 and 5 in, where length and width matter more. Very tall pieces cost far more: a 12 in cushion was listed at twice the 6 in price.
Questions buyers ask next
Can I give my cushion measurements in centimeters?
Yes. Buyers send inches or centimeters. What matters is that length, width and thickness are exact and labeled, and that a shaped cushion's drawing carries a number on every side.
Is shipping included in a custom cushion quote?
The quote tells you. It comes back as one total, together with a custom purchase link or the name of the listing option to choose, and the shipping cost is part of what it spells out. If a reply leaves shipping unclear, ask in the same thread before you pay and keep the message.
How much do I save ordering covers without foam?
It depends on the size. Most of the cost is the custom cover, so on small pieces leaving out the foam saves little; on large, thick cushions the foam is a bigger share. Ask for both versions in one quote and the difference is right there.
