The Cutting Table · compared on the table
The package is tiny. Is my whole cushion set or sofa really in there?
Also asked as:The package seems very small.I thought I ordered a sofa.
A sofa in a parcel you can carry under one arm looks like a mistake. It isn't. The air was taken out on purpose.
SaveThe quick answer
Yes, a tiny package can hold your whole order: cushions, floor cushion sets and sofas ship vacuum-compressed, so a full set with seat, backrest and armrests fits in a small, flat parcel. Nothing needs extra stuffing. Open it promptly and allow about 36-48 hours for the foam to expand. Large sofa orders can come in up to 5 separately tracked parcels.

Your first days out of the bag
| When | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery day | Accept the parcel and open it | Foam left compressed for several weeks can be damaged |
| First 36-48 hours | Let the foam expand; give it a shake | It grows back to full size once the seal is off |
| Next couple of days | Leave it alone | Compressed foam firms up and turns solid |
| First week or so | Judge creases later, not now | Vacuum creases relax on their own, deep ones in 7-10 days |
Why the parcel is flat
Foam at full size is mostly air, and shipping bulky cushions at full size is very expensive. So cushions, floor cushion sets and sofas are vacuum-compressed, rolled and packed flat. Each roll pack weighs roughly 22-33 lb (10-15 kg), light enough for one person to carry in from the porch. The parcels leave together but can land on different days, each with its own tracking.
How many boxes are on your porch right now, friend? Count them against the tracking numbers before you worry. If something genuinely is missing, the workshop sends a replacement.
The vacuum-packed cushion Pattern walks through the first days, and floor sofa support bars covers the metal pieces in the small box. The roll pack is in the glossary, and the sofas themselves are among the modular floor sofas.
A sofa that wanted to stay sealed until moving day
A buyer messaged the workshop with a few flat packages on the floor and two questions: is this really the whole couch, and can it stay sealed until the move? Yes to the first. Sofa parts were in the larger parcels and the metal rods in a small one. No to the second. Foam left compressed for several weeks can be damaged, so the advice was to unpack as soon as possible and give the compression creases 1-2 weeks before judging them.
A whole floor cushion set, seat, backrest and armrests, fits in one flat vacuum parcel and needs about 36-48 hours to expand.

Buyer questions
- A common question
My sofa came in a few flat packages. Is that the whole couch, and can I leave it sealed until I move?
The workshop's answerIt's complete: sofa parts in the larger parcels, metal rods in a small one. Unpack as soon as you can, since foam left compressed for several weeks can be damaged.
- A common question
The delivery box looks far too small for what I ordered. Is something missing?
The workshop's answerThe cushions are vacuum-sealed, so the parcel looks small, and they expand to full size once opened. Accept the delivery; if anything is truly missing, the workshop sends a replacement.
- A common question
Did a whole floor cushion set really fit in this tiny package?
The workshop's answerYes. The set, with seat, backrest and armrests, is vacuum-packed. Open the packages and allow 36-48 hours for the foam to expand.
- A common question
The kids' loveseat chair came in a tiny package. Do I need to stuff it?
The workshop's answerNo. It's compressed foam; give it a couple of days and it becomes firmer and solid.
Questions buyers ask next
Can one person carry the floor sofa parcels in?
Usually. Each vacuum roll pack weighs roughly 22-33 lb (10-15 kg). A standard sofa ships at about 77 lb (35 kg) across two rolls and a small bar box; a corner couch runs about 121-132 lb (55-60 kg) over four rolls plus bars.
Will all my sofa parcels arrive on the same day?
Not always. The parcels ship together, but each has its own tracking and they may arrive on different days. Wait until every tracked package is in before deciding a piece is missing.
Is a short trip under vacuum bad for a foam cushion?
No. Brief compression in transit doesn't damage the foam, and cushions return to full shape once opened. The risk comes when foam stays sealed for weeks or months, so open everything soon after delivery.
