A Reading by HarlanCorner Floor Cushions & Poufs
A gray corduroy corner floor cushion that makes a bare playroom corner generous
No canopy, no built-in, no hooks in the ceiling. Just a quarter circle of gray cord on an oak floor, and a corner that suddenly has somewhere to sit.
The quick answer
A 40 x 40 in (102 x 102 cm) corner floor cushion is the size the workshop suggests for two toddlers, and it turns an empty playroom corner into a reading spot without adding furniture. Corner cushions come by the length of their straight sides, 40 or 48 in. Corduroy goes without piping, because its ribs already draw the curved edge.

SaveHow a quarter circle makes a corner bigger
A small room wastes its corners. Nobody walks there, nothing fits there, and the dust knows it. Put the two straight sides of a quarter-circle cushion against those walls and the dead corner becomes the best seat in the room, while the curve faces out so no child runs into a sharp edge.
Look at the front. The arc is one long side band, and the corduroy ribs run up and down on it, so they read like neat pleats. The band is deep enough to give the cushion a firm outline on the oak floor. There is no piping, and none is needed; on corduroy the ribs draw the line themselves.
Nothing is fixed overhead. For a rented room, or a ceiling too low for a canopy, that is the whole point, my friend. A cushion that stands on its own leaves the walls and the lease alone.
Five small decisions
Three pillows, three frames, one stack of books: each pin shows how a bare corner was filled without crowding it.

- Curved corduroy front
The arc is one long gusset strip, so the ribs run vertically and read like neat pleats.
- Boucle star pillow
Loopy boucle contrasts with ribbed corduroy even though both are neutral.
- Rust flower pillow
Rust against gray is a warm-cool pairing that stops a gray room feeling cold.
- Safari animal prints
Frames on the right wall anchor the cushion so it doesn't float in an empty corner.
- Books within reach
A small stack beside the cushion turns it into a reading spot.

Three pillows, graded like a smile
The pillows stand star, flower, cloud from left to right, and their tops make a gentle arc that repeats the curve below. The cream boucle star is loopy against the ribbed gray, two neutrals with opposite textures. The rust velvet flower brings warmth; rust against pewter gray keeps a white room from feeling cold. The powder blue cloud cools it again.
Those two colors are borrowed from the lion cub and zebra prints above. The frames anchor the cushion, so it doesn't float in an empty corner. A stack of books sits on the floor beside it and a wooden crate holds the toys, both within reach of a small arm.
How much floor does your corner give you? Tape the two sides out before you choose between the corner floor cushion sizes, and read the quarter-circle sizing Pattern first.
