Can the floor sofa be made smaller or narrower to fit my space?

Also asked as:It's a little too wide for my spaceSmaller version like a loveseat, 70 inches?

The standard floor sofa runs about 78.5 in (200 cm) wide. Your wall gets a vote too.

The quick answer

Yes, a floor sofa can be made smaller: order the standard listing and write your width in the order note, such as 60, 65 or 70 in. A smaller size costs the same as the standard sofa but adds production time, so ask for making and delivery times in writing. Arms and backrests stay standard, so they take a bigger share of a narrower seat.

Design around the seat, not the frame

Here's the part a listing photo won't tell you, partner. Narrowing the sofa keeps the standard arms and backrests, and they don't shrink with it. On that 65 in build, the arms took 20 in of width (65 minus 45) and the back took 10 in of depth (35 minus 25). So start from the seat you need and add the arms, not the other way around.

Order the standard listing, write width x depth in the note or the personalization box, and allow extra production time before delivery. The floor sofa buying guide covers clearances, and the seat height calculator checks whether 13.5 in suits your knees.

What's the clear width of your wall, trim to trim?

A floor sofa made smaller than the standard 78.5 in has cost the same as the standard size, and it spends longer in production before it ships.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

Can the modular floor sofa be made 68 inches long?

    The workshop's answer

Yes, at no extra charge. Order the standard sofa and write the length you need in the personalization box.

  2. A common question

Can you make the floor sofa narrower to fit my space?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Order the standard sofa and write your width in the note; the workshop adjusts it, and past custom widths cost no extra. Requests have included 60, 63, 66, 67, 70, 72 and 74 in widths. Customization adds production time, so a narrowed sofa leaves later than a standard one.

  3. A common question

Could it be both narrower and shorter than standard?

    The workshop's answer

Yes. Buy from the standard listing and write your sizes in the order note. A 64 in version, 79 x 64 in overall, was offered at the same price, and a 39 x 68 in version was made with the backrests scaled down to match.

  4. A common question

Does a smaller floor sofa cost extra?

    The workshop's answer

No extra was charged to make a sofa smaller, such as 71 in (180 cm) instead of 79 in (200 cm). Buy the standard option and put your size in the order note. A corner of about 98 x 59 in (250 x 150 cm) instead of 118 x 79 in (300 x 200 cm) was agreed too.

Questions buyers ask next

What if I mismeasured, or the sofa won't fit through my door?

Say so before you cancel. The workshop has offered to remake the sofa to your dimensions when a buyer mismeasured or needed it to fit through a narrow doorway. Measure the door as well as the wall before ordering.

How quickly does the standard size ship?

One standard in-stock floor sofa shipped within 2 days of the order. A custom size adds production time first, and delivery follows dispatch either way.

Can the depth shrink as well as the width?

Yes. A 33 in (84 cm) depth has been made instead of the standard 39 in (100 cm), and corner layouts can be scaled down too. Write both numbers, width x depth, in the order note.
