The Cutting Table · a common question
Do the floor cushions come filled, or is it just the cover?
Also asked as:Are they stuffed, or only the cover?Am I buying only the cover?
Two inputs, one finished object. The order form asks for a color number and a size, and the rest is already inside the cushion when it arrives.
The quick answer
Floor cushions come fully filled, not as covers only: each one arrives well stuffed and sewn closed, ready to sit on, and you choose just the color number and the size. Tufted floor sofas are filled with silicone fiber balls, a polyester cluster fill. Ask the workshop for current preparation and delivery times in writing before you order.

Nothing in the box asks for your stuffing skills
Short answer, partner: filled. Every floor cushion leaves the workshop well stuffed and sewn closed, ready to use the day it lands. You are buying a finished piece, not a cover plus a to-do list.
The tufted floor sofas take a cluster fiber fill: silicone fiber balls, which are a polyester fill. The set is the floor seat cushion plus a backrest with armrests, and every piece is stuffed. If you are sizing a set, the tufted floor couch set sizes Pattern lists the common footprints, and the floor cushion thickness guide covers height. Which size are you weighing?

What you will not need to buy

Tufted floor sofas arrive filled with silicone fiber balls, a polyester cluster fill, so the seat, backrest and armrests are ready on day one.

Buyer questions
- A common question
Do the cushions arrive filled, or is it just the cover?
The workshop's answerEverything arrives fully filled and sewn closed, so there is no insert or bag of stuffing to buy; you only choose the color number and the size.
- A common question
Are your floor cushions sold as covers?
The workshop's answerNo. They come fully filled and sewn closed, well stuffed and ready to use.
- A common question
Is the tufted velvet floor sofa filled with polyester, and does it come filled?
The workshop's answerYes to both. It arrives filled with silicone fiber balls, a polyester fiber fill, and the set includes the floor seat cushion plus a backrest with armrests.
- A common question
What exactly is inside a tufted cushion?
The workshop's answerSilicone ball fiber: polyester hollow-fiber clusters that feel like cotton, packed densely and often mixed with some cotton. There is no foam core, and the workshop can send a photo of the fill.
Questions buyers ask next
Does cotton filling hold its shape as well as silicone balls?
Not quite. Silicone balls keep their shape better over time, and cotton does not fully spring back after being vacuum-packed for shipping. Cotton-only and organic cotton fills are still made on request if you prefer them.
Should a thick backrest or a bolster use foam or fiber?
Thick non-tufted backrests of about 12-14 in (30-35 cm) need foam, often cut as a wedge. Silicone balls suit round arm bolsters, and for neck rolls the workshop recommends shredded foam, which is supportive without being too soft.
How long from order to doorstep for a filled floor cushion?
It depends on the size and on the workshop's queue: the cushion is filled, sewn closed and prepared, then the courier takes over, and the workshop gives both times with your order. Leave a margin before any date that matters. The cushion arrives stuffed and sewn closed, so it is ready to use the day the box is opened.
