The Cutting Table · a checklist answer
If the size dropdown and my typed size differ, which one do you make?
Also asked as:It says length 38-40.I put the custom size in personalization.
The dropdown is a price bracket, not a tape measure. The numbers you type are the ones that reach the cutting table.
SaveThe quick answer
The exact size you type is the one that gets made; the size dropdown only picks the range and sets the price. Choose 38-40 in from the dropdown, type 18 x 20, and the cushion is cut at 18 x 20 in. Colors agreed in writing also override a listing's default color field. For sizes far outside the dropdown, ask for a custom listing.

Have Maggie’s workshop cut this for you
I once cut a lovely cushion two inches short, and I have not forgotten it. That is why the workshop goes over your measurements with you on the phone. — Maggie
Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.
Maggie's checkout checklist
- Pick the dropdown range that covers your cushion. It sets the price and nothing more.
- Type the exact finished size, length x depth x thickness, in the Exact Size field or personalization box.
- Read the typed numbers back once against your tape. What you type is what gets cut.
- Add your fabric code and piping code, even if the listing shows a default color.
- Size far outside every option? Stop and ask for a custom listing instead.
Why the dropdown is there at all
Marketplace checkouts won't let you through without choosing a size, so the dropdown exists to satisfy the checkout. It picks a range and a price. It does not measure your bench. Buyers sometimes read '38-40' as the finished size, dear, and that is the one misunderstanding worth a minute of your time.
What reaches the cutting table is the number typed in the Exact Size field or the personalization notes. Color follows the same logic: when a listing shows a default code such as 910 but you agreed a different one in messages, the agreed code is used.
Measure the bench, not the cushion you used to have, with the bench measuring Pattern, then fill the box using the personalization note Pattern. If your size sits well off the menu, read custom sizes not on the menu first. The cushions themselves are in bench cushions.
Two orders that taught the workshop a habit
A buyer chose the nearest dropdown size, 35.4 x 15.7 in (90 x 40 cm), and typed the real one, 37 x 15.4 in (94 x 39 cm), in the personalization box. The cushion was made at the dropdown size, and part of the order was refunded. Since then, unusual sizes are steered to a custom listing and confirmed before cutting.
In the second, a buyer in the US saw color 910 on the order, a dark blue on the chart, when lavender had been agreed in messages. The workshop confirmed the lavender and sent a production plan before starting. That confirmation is there for exactly this.
Choose 38-40 in from the dropdown, type 18 x 20, and the cushion is cut at 18 x 20 in; the typed size is the one that gets made.

Buyer questions
- A common question
The dropdown range and the size I typed don't match. Which do you follow?
The workshop's answerThe typed size. The dropdown only chooses the range and sets the price; production works from the Exact Size field, so double-check what you typed before checkout.
- A common question
If my custom size goes in the personalization notes, will you make it to that?
The workshop's answerYes. Cushions are produced to the size in the notes, for example 25.6 x 54.7 in (65 x 139 cm), and the workshop confirms size and color when production starts.
- A common question
I picked the closest size and typed my exact one in the box. Will the note be followed?
The workshop's answerAsk for a custom listing instead. Once, the dropdown's 35.4 x 15.7 in (90 x 40 cm) was made instead of the typed 37 x 15.4 in (94 x 39 cm), and part of the order was refunded.
- A common question
My order shows color 910, which looks dark blue, but we agreed on lavender. Does it matter?
The workshop's answerThe listing's default color field doesn't always match what was agreed in messages. The workshop confirmed the agreed color and sent a plan before production; put your fabric code in the notes and check the confirmation.
Questions buyers ask next
Does the dropdown range tell me the finished cushion size?
No. It is a price bracket covering a span of sizes. Buyers sometimes read it as the finished size, which is why the exact measurements typed in the Exact Size field or personalization notes are the ones the workshop cuts to.
Besides length and depth, what else belongs in the notes?
Thickness, your main fabric code and your piping code, or 'no piping', plus extras such as ties or a backrest note. Use chart codes rather than color names. Nothing written in the box is printed on the cushion.
When does the workshop confirm my size and color?
When production starts. Size and color are confirmed at that point, and a production plan may come with them, so reply promptly if anything in it differs from what you measured or agreed.
