The Cutting Table · a common question
Why is my checkout total different from the price you quoted me?
Also asked as:The price came up different than your quoteThe invoice is higher than the quote
A number that jumps between our message and your cart is unsettling, but on past orders the quote held. Here is where the odd figure comes from and how the quote gets honored.
The quick answer
A checkout price different from your quote usually comes from how the order page displays it, not from a new price: quotes are in US dollars, a payment link can show the undiscounted figure first, and another display currency is converted at the marketplace's own rate. The workshop honors the quoted USD price and checks any total you screenshot.
SaveKey facts
- Custom quotes are given in US dollars, and that USD figure is the price.
- A payment link can first show the undiscounted price; the discounted amount appears once you open it.
- A listing can show the non-discounted price until the workshop updates it.
- If your account shows another currency, the marketplace converts at its own rate, which can differ from a Google conversion by a few percent.
- The workshop can set up a private listing at the agreed USD amount.
- The workshop has taken a little off an order to cover a conversion gap.
- A screenshot of the total lets the workshop check it.

Have Rosa’s workshop cut this for you
Swings sway, rockers rock, dogs circle three times. Tell the workshop what your seat goes through, and they will plan for it. — Rosa
Leave your details and the workshop will call you to confirm measurements, fabric, foam and piping. No prices, dates or payment on this page: it is a request, not an order.
Where a different number comes from
Pull up a chair; this one is quicker than it looks. A custom quote is written in US dollars, and that dollar figure is the price. When the checkout shows something else, it has come from one of two places.
The first is the discount. A payment link can show the undiscounted price up front, with the discounted amount appearing once you open it, and a listing can show the full price until the workshop updates it. The second is currency: if your account displays another currency, the marketplace converts at its own rate, which can differ from a Google conversion by a few percent, and the workshop has no control over it.
Which number did you see first, neighbor: the one in our message or the one in your cart? Send a screenshot either way. The custom cushion quote Pattern lists what to send for the quote itself, and mudroom and entryway bench cushions shows benches like the one in the photo.
Four moves when the checkout total looks wrong
Open the payment link all the way
The first figure can be the undiscounted price; the discounted amount shows once the link is open.
Compare in US dollars
The quote is in USD. Your own conversion may not match the marketplace's rate, and the USD amount is what counts.
Send a screenshot
A screenshot of the cart or checkout total lets the workshop check exactly what you are seeing.
Ask for a private listing
The workshop can set one up at the agreed USD amount, so the checkout matches the quote.
The sofa-and-ottoman link that looked too high
A buyer wrote in because the payment link for a sofa and its ottoman showed more than the figure in our message. The first number was the undiscounted price; once the link was opened, the discounted amount was there, and the set was confirmed at the quoted dollar price. On another order, where a conversion left a gap, the workshop simply took a little off.
A custom cushion quote in US dollars is the price; if the checkout total looks different, send a screenshot and ask for a private listing at the quoted amount.

Buyer questions
- A common question
Why is the checkout price different from the quote I was given?
The workshop's answerThe listing may be showing the non-discounted price, or the currency converter may show a different figure in your currency. The workshop sticks to its quote and can set up a private listing at the agreed USD price.
- A common question
Why does the amount in my cart or payment link look different from your quote?
The workshop's answerQuotes are given in US dollars, but the payment link can show your local currency. The first figure shown can be the undiscounted price, and the discounted amount appears when you open the link. The sofa-and-ottoman set on that order was confirmed at the quoted USD amount.
- A common question
Why is my invoice higher than the price you quoted?
The workshop's answerAll prices are in US dollars, and the marketplace converts them into your local currency at checkout, so the figure can look higher. The USD amount is the price.
- A common question
The total doesn't match my own conversion of the dollar quote. Why?
The workshop's answerThe marketplace converts currencies at its own rate, which can differ from Google's, and the workshop has no control over it. To make up the difference it has taken a little off one order and re-quoted another in the buyer's own currency.
Questions buyers ask next
Does the workshop change a quote once I've agreed to it?
No. The quoted USD price is the one it holds to. If a listing still shows an old or non-discounted figure, the workshop updates it or sets up a private listing at the agreed amount.
What should I send to get a custom quote in the first place?
Send length x width x thickness, the fabric or listing you like, and a drawing with every side for shaped cushions. The workshop confirms the shape and replies with a total plus a custom link; ask it to spell out shipping cost and timing in that reply.
What if my exact size turns out bigger than the option I paid for?
Small gaps of about 3 to 5 in (8 to 13 cm) are absorbed. Bigger ones are settled with a top-up payment link before production starts, or you reorder in the right size range.
