The Cutting Table · a common question

Can I get the floor sofa bars in black, gold or a matte finish?

Also asked as:Can you make the chrome bar black?Anything more matte than chrome?

More than one buyer has asked for gold bars to go with a brick-red sofa, neighbor. The bars come one way, and there's a gentle fix if the shine bothers you.

The quick answer

No, the teddy floor sofa's metal bars come only in polished stainless steel, a chrome silver finish; black, gold, bronze and matte aren't offered. For a softer, less shiny look, the workshop can cover the bars in the sofa's own fabric. An earlier bar version that peeled was replaced by new one-piece bars.

Why chrome is the only finish

Wanting teddy sofa black metal bars is a fair wish; a dark frame under cream velvet looks sharp. But there are no color options for the metal parts. The bars are polished stainless steel, and that's that.

One product description once said matte black powder coat. It was wrong. A buyer noticed, got a partial refund, and the photos were updated. I'd rather tell you that story myself.

Peeling came up with an earlier bar version. It was replaced by new one-piece bars, and the workshop has promised support if the problem ever comes back.

The fabric sleeve fix

If it's the shine that bothers you, the workshop has offered to cover the bars in the sofa's own fabric. Chrome disappears, the frame reads soft, and a modular floor sofa in teddy or bouclé looks all of a piece.

Is it the shine you mind, or the silver? Answer that before you order. The support bars pattern shows how the frame goes together.

No black, gold, bronze or matte: the teddy floor sofa's metal bars come in one finish, polished stainless steel, and fabric can cover them.

Buyer questions

  1. A common question

Can the chrome bars on the sofa be black?

    The workshop's answer

No. There are no color options for the metal parts, so the bars come only in their original chrome finish.

  2. A common question

Can I get gold, bronze or matte frame bars instead of shiny chrome?

    The workshop's answer

Bronze and gold bars aren't available; silver is. For a less shiny look, the workshop offered to cover the metal bars in the sofa's fabric.

  3. A common question

How do the floor sofa's metal bars go together? There were no instructions.

    The workshop's answer

Twist and push each bar until the small spring dots click into place. Loosen a tight joint by clicking it in and out of the corner piece a few times. A setup video is sent on request.

Questions buyers ask next

Will the chrome sofa bars peel?

An earlier bar version had a peeling problem. It was replaced by new one-piece bars, and the workshop has promised support if the problem comes back, so send photos if you ever see it.

Do fabric-covered bars match the sofa?

They're covered in the sofa's own fabric, so the color matches the cushions. Mention it when you order, since the bars otherwise arrive in polished chrome.

Does the workshop make bed frames or platforms for the sofa?

No. It makes foam cushions, covers and pillows only; benches, platforms, bed frames and rigid headboards aren't made. It can make lift-out foam cushions or removable covers instead.
