The Cutting Table · a checklist answer
How much does a custom window seat cushion cost?
Also asked as:How much for a custom size window seat? Can you make a cushion 31 inches wide by 63 long?
Every window seat is its own size, so there's no sticker price on the porch door. There's a quote, and it starts with three numbers.
SaveThe quick answer
A custom window seat cushion is priced by its size: send the length, depth and thickness, and the workshop sends a quote that shows the shipping cost. The price rises with length × depth and with thickness, while fabric barely changes it. Standard thickness is 4 in (10 cm), and your size is added to the listing as an option to order.

- Length of the seat, wall to wall

- Thickness: 4 in (10 cm) is standard; say so if you want more or less
- Shape: a plain rectangle, or angled ends
- Colors: two cushions in one order can be different colors
What moves a window seat quote, and what barely does
| Change | Effect on the quote |
|---|---|
| Longer or deeper seat | Rises with length × depth |
| 8–9 in (20–23 cm) thick instead of 3–4 in | Well above the standard price |
| Angled ends instead of square | A little more |
| Velvet instead of linen | Little difference |
| A small size, such as 12 x 32 in (30 x 81 cm) | Added as an option on request |
| A counter-offer far below the quote | Declined, because of fabric and filling quality |
The buyer who measured again and didn't need a custom size
A buyer wrote in for a quote on a 13 x 35.5 in (33 x 90 cm) window seat cushion. The workshop quoted it. Then they went back to the window with the tape, measured again, and found one of the standard sizes fit after all.
That's my favorite kind of quote, the one that saves somebody the custom order.
Why thickness moves the quote more than fabric
Pull up a chair, neighbor, because this part surprises folks. Swapping linen for velvet barely changes a window seat quote. Doubling the thickness does. The price follows the floor plan first, length times depth, and then how tall the cushion stands.
One note on fill: one reply described a 4 in window cushion filled with silicone balls rather than foam, so confirm the fill on your quote.
Gather your numbers with the what to send for a quote list, check height with the window seat thickness pattern, and see finished seats on the window seat cushions page. How long is your window seat, wall to wall?
Custom window seat cushions are priced by size, not fabric: length × depth × thickness, with 4 in thick as the standard.

Buyer questions
- A common question
What does a custom-size window seat cushion cost? Mine isn't on the menu.
The workshop's answerIt's quoted by size. Buyers have ordered sizes such as 23 x 76 in in emerald velvet, 31 x 63 in, and a pair of tufted velvet cushions at 46 x 22 and 69 x 21.5 in in two different colors. The workshop adds your size as an option to the listing so you can order it.
- A common question
How much more is a big, extra-thick velvet or corduroy window seat cushion?
The workshop's answerThickness is the big lever: a 26 x 65.5 in cushion at 9 in thick sits well above a standard 3–4 in one. Two corduroy cushions with 3 in foam can go in one order, and small sizes like 12 x 32 in are added as options on request.
- A common question
Will you accept a lower offer on a 21 x 79 in (54 x 200 cm) window seat cushion?
The workshop's answerA counter-offer well below the quote was declined because the workshop uses top-quality fabric and filling, but installment payment is available.
- A common question
Do angled ends change what a window seat cushion costs?
The workshop's answerA little. A window seat with angled ends costs slightly more than a plain rectangle of the same size. Thickness matters more: an 8 in thick cushion at 63 x 25 in sits well above a standard-thickness one.
Questions buyers ask next
Does a window seat cushion quote include shipping?
Ask before you pay, neighbor. The workshop confirms shipping cost and timing with your quote, so get the full figure to your door in writing.
Is 4 inches thick enough for a window seat cushion?
Four inches (10 cm) is the standard thickness, and it can be changed. Thicker cushions, such as 8–9 in, cost well above standard. The Pattern Room's window seat thickness guide helps you choose.
Can I pay for a custom window seat cushion in installments?
Yes, installments are available. What the workshop won't do is drop far below its quote, because the fabric and filling quality set a floor on what it can charge.
