The Cutting Table · a question, worked through

Can I pick up my order in person instead of having it shipped?

Short answer: it ships, friend. When a buyer is in a hurry, the fix has been a faster dispatch, not a trip to the workshop door.

The quick answer

No, a custom cushion order usually can't be picked up in person; cushions are made to order and shipped by courier. When a buyer needed one urgently, the workshop offered next-day dispatch with 3 to 4 day delivery instead. Floor sofas are the rare exception, collected by prior arrangement, and holidays can slow couriers by a few days.

Can I come by and collect it?

For a cushion, no. Every piece is cut and sewn to order, then handed to a courier. One buyer asked to collect in person and was told exactly that, with an offer attached: dispatch the next day, delivery in 3 to 4 days.

That offer is the useful part. Is there a date the cushion has to be on the porch by? Say so in your first message, not after production.

And a floor sofa? Can I pay when I pick it up?

Floor sofas are the one exception. By arrangement made ahead, buyers have collected a modular floor sofa at the warehouse and paid there. Ask first; it is not a standing service.

Once, when home delivery wasn't possible, a sofa went to a courier branch for pickup, expected in 2 to 3 days. A public holiday blew through like a squall and the couriers ran a few days behind.

What arrives when it ships

  • A floor sofa comes as vacuum-sealed roll packs plus a small box of metal bars.
  • The parcels ship together but often land on different days, sometimes with different couriers.
  • Orders usually ship without a signature required, so the courier can leave them at your door.
  • Foam needs time to recover after it is unrolled; see the first 72 hours.

Custom cushions ship rather than wait for pickup; for one urgent order, next-day dispatch came with 3 to 4 days of delivery.

Questions buyers ask next

How fast can an urgent cushion order reach me?

The fastest option offered in one urgent case was next-day dispatch followed by 3 to 4 days of delivery. Say the order is urgent when you place it, and get the timing in writing from the start.

Do holidays delay cushion deliveries?

They can. In one real case a sofa sent to a courier branch was expected in 2 to 3 days, and a public holiday slowed the courier network by a few more. Allow extra days around holidays.

Why did only part of my floor sofa arrive?

It ships in several parcels: vacuum-sealed roll packs of cushions and a small box of metal bars. They leave together but often arrive on different days, sometimes with different couriers.
