# Two modular floor sofas, one corner, and three fabric codes

*Two sets. One corner. The color changes where the walls do.*

> **The quick answer:** A modular floor sofa corner can be made from two standard sets placed at a right angle, with no custom L-shaped cushion needed. Give each set its own end color, name every fabric by its code when you order, and check the real sitting depth: a 29 in (74 cm) seat is too shallow once backrest cushions sit on it.

## Pinned by Hana: where the two sets meet

Five pins, from the rust ends on the long wall to the pothos shelf above them.

1. **Rust-edged sofa**: One set along the long wall, ends in rust.
2. **Mustard-edged sofa**: A second set turns the corner in a neighboring color.
3. **Shaggy rug center**: A rug between the two anchors them into one lounge.
4. **Oak coffee table**: A low table with books serves both sofas.
5. **Pothos shelf**: Plants above the long wall balance the window on the short wall.

## Two standard sets instead of one custom L

This corner is not one cushion. It is two floor sofas, set at a right angle.

That matters when you order. A custom L-shaped piece needs a drawing, a corner decision and a longer conversation. Two standard [modular floor sofas](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/modular-floor-sofas/) need two sets of codes and a tape measure.

The long wall holds the set with rust ends. The short wall, under the tall window, holds the set with mustard ends. Rust and mustard sit next to each other on the color wheel, so the change at the corner feels like a step, not a jump. Both pick up the honey floor and the oak table.

The cream [velvet](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/velvet/) body is the same on both. That is what makes two pieces read as one lounge.

The shaggy rug holds the middle, the way a table holds its chairs. The low oak coffee table and its stack of art books serve both seats. The pothos shelf above the long wall balances the window on the short one. Dried pampas on the sill, dried flowers on the table: nothing that needs watering twice.

Leave a hand's width of floor where the two sets meet. The corner breathes, and either set can be pulled out to clean behind it.

When you write to order, put three things in the first message. The fabric code for each part. The length of each wall. Whether backrest cushions will sit on the seat. One complete message saves several rounds of questions. The [modular layouts guide](https://cushionguide.com/guides/modular-floor-sofa-layouts/) shows other ways to turn a corner.

What does your corner measure, wall to wall?

## Three codes on one fabric card

- Cream body, T301 — #EDE3D1 — The shared body color. It makes two sets read as one.
- Rust ends, T314 — #A4502C — Long wall. The heavier color takes the longer run.
- Mustard ends, T313 — #C99A2E — Short wall, under the window. Daylight lifts it.
- Honey oak — #B98A55 — Floor and table. Both end colors borrow from it.
- Pothos green — #4F7A3A — The only cool color, kept high on the shelf.

## 110 inches long, 29 inches deep

A buyer in the US asked for a long, shallow floor sofa: 110 in (279 cm) long and 29 in (74 cm) deep. The wall was long and narrow, and the depth was chosen to fit it.

The workshop wrote back before cutting anything. A 29 in seat leaves too little room to sit once the backrest cushions are in place. The backrest takes its own depth off the seat. What remains is where you actually sit.

The buyer agreed. The warning came before the cutting, which is when a warning is worth the most.

The lesson is subtraction. Seat depth minus backrest depth is your real sitting depth. Do that math before you choose a depth for a narrow wall. The [seat height calculator](https://cushionguide.com/studio/seat-height-calculator/) helps with the other half of the question.

## Buyer questions: bent bars, borrowed covers, a pouf alone

**A common question:** One of the U-shaped metal support bars arrived bent. Can I get a new one?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Send a photo of the bent piece and the workshop ships a replacement.

**A common question:** Is your floor sofa the same size as the designer teddy sofa it's modeled on? I'd like to use that brand's covers.

**The workshop's answer:** The workshop says its dimensions match the original design it is based on. If you prefer the other brand's colors, you can buy the fillings, the inserts, on their own without covers.

**A common question:** Can I order the corduroy bean bag chair without the ottoman, or just the pouf by itself?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes to both. The bean bag can be ordered without its ottoman, and the pouf alone can be bought through a custom offer. One limit: the corduroy pouf does not come in black.

> **Tailor's margin:** Floor sofa order note: name each fabric by its code, for body, ends and backrests. Colors have many names. Codes have one.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Can two floor sofas make an L-shaped corner?

Yes. Set two standard floor sofas at a right angle, one along each wall. Keep the body fabric the same on both so they read as one lounge, and put a rug between them to hold the seating to one center.

### How deep should a floor sofa be if it has backrest cushions?

Deep enough that the seat still works after the backrest takes its share. A 29 in (74 cm) deep floor sofa was judged too shallow once backrest cushions were in place. Subtract the backrest depth from the seat depth to see your real sitting depth.

### What should my first message include when ordering a floor sofa?

The fabric code for each part, the length of each wall, and whether backrest cushions will sit on the seat. Codes remove guesswork about color names, and the wall and depth figures let the workshop check the fit before cutting.

### Why give each floor sofa a different end color?

Two identical sets in a corner can look like one heavy block. Changing only the end color, rust on one and mustard on the other, marks where one set stops and the next begins, while the shared cream body keeps them related.
