# An Ivory Corduroy Corner Floor Cushion Where Two Toddlers Play

*Two little ones, one wooden ring stacker and a box-edged corner seat low enough to climb onto alone. The edge tells you most of what you need to know.*

> **The quick answer:** A corner floor cushion for toddlers should have a firm box edge and a low front, so children can perch on the rim and climb on and off by themselves. In ivory corduroy, a pale plain seat lets the children and their bright toys stand out. Keep the pillows few and push them against the walls, leaving the open center for play.

## Notebook, page one: read the edge before the color

Two toddlers, one wooden ring stacker, and neither child is sitting where a grown-up would. One is perched right on the front rim. That is the first line I wrote in my notebook, and it is why the edge matters more than the fabric here.

This is a [corner floor cushion](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/corner-floor-cushions/) with a **box edge**: a straight side band, the [gusset](https://cushionguide.com/glossary/#gusset), running between top and bottom. A box edge keeps the front standing square when a small knee lands on it. There is no piping, and on a play seat I don't miss it. Nothing for little fingers to pick at, just a soft, plain line along the front.

The height is modest. The children climb on and off without a hand from anybody, and in a playroom that is the whole brief. The two of them also play with room to spare between them, which tells me the corner was sized generously rather than squeezed.

Ivory [corduroy](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/corduroy/) takes the warm afternoon light and gives it back quietly, so the children and their bright toys stand out against it. The lilac tulle canopy with its fairy lights frames the scene from above. A cream star pillow, a mustard round pillow and a lilac cloud pillow stay against the walls as backrests, and the mustard one doubles as a headrest when somebody lies down. A plush bunny sits on the seat, a wooden block is close by, and board books stand open on the oval jute rug beside a wooden crate. This is a play surface first and a decoration second.

For the measuring side, read [box edge versus knife edge](https://cushionguide.com/guides/box-edge-vs-knife-edge-cushion/) and the [corner floor cushion sizes](https://cushionguide.com/guides/corner-floor-cushion-quarter-circle-size/) Pattern.

## Five pins on a playroom corner

Five pins, from the toddler on the front rim to the board books on the rug, showing what a low box edge makes possible.

1. **Toddler with ring stacker**: Children perch right on the edge, so the front gusset needs to hold its shape.
2. **Plush bunny on the seat**: Soft toys left on top show the cushion is a play surface, not just decor.
3. **Low corduroy front**: A modest height means toddlers climb on and off by themselves.
4. **Mustard pillow as headrest**: A round pillow against the wall doubles as a headrest for a child lying down.
5. **Board books on the rug**: Books standing open on the rug hint at how the nook is really used.

## Box, knife, rounded or angled: choosing the edge and the corner

| Edge or corner | What it does on the floor | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| Box edge | A straight gusset keeps the front square and firm to sit on | Children will perch on the rim or use it as a step |
| Knife edge | Top and bottom sewn straight together, tapering to a thin rim | The cushion is thin and mostly for lying on |
| Rounded corners | Softened corners on the plan, cut from a marked radius | The seat sits in the open, where square points get bumped |
| Angled corner | A corner that is not 90 degrees, cut from a measured drawing | The walls meet at an odd angle, as in alcoves and older houses |

## A tiny house, three grays and a checkout that went wrong

A buyer in the US wrote to the workshop about a tiny house living room in the woods: cedar walls, a yellow carpet, and a wish for an L-shaped modular floor sofa with a Japanese, zen feel. The plan was two floor cushions at 24 x 48 in (61 x 122 cm), later re-measured to 20 x 44 in (51 x 112 cm), plus two back cushions and two arm cushions.

They asked to see three grays side by side, smoke, anthracite and a mid gray, because they had black accent pillows and a lot of green light pouring through the windows. That was a good instinct.

Then the paperwork tangled. First the buyer was told to put the quantities in the personalization box; then they were asked to raise the cart quantity or make a second purchase. They read that as the price changing under them, and they walked away.

Nobody meant harm. The numbers simply were not settled in writing before checkout. Settle it on paper, my friend: the price piece by piece, and the quantity of each, before you pay. How many pieces is your floor sofa, counted one by one? The [modular floor sofa](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/modular-floor-sofas/) pages show how the parts add up.

## Buyer questions: layouts, quotes and a parcel on hold

**A common question:** My floor couch came with one foldable cushion, but the listing photo shows three. Is something missing?

**The workshop's answer:** No. The standard Plus configuration is one foldable cushion and two long back cushions; photos may show other arrangements. The workshop moved to this layout because buyers found three ottoman pieces too many and too prone to shifting around.

**A common question:** What would three tufted pallet cushions at 38 x 25 x 6 in (97 x 64 x 15 cm) cost?

**The workshop's answer:** The workshop quoted one total for all three, worked out from those exact sizes. For a quote of your own, send the length, depth and thickness of each piece plus the fabric, and ask for the total.

**A common question:** The carrier is holding my parcel. What should I do?

**The workshop's answer:** Contact the carrier directly; in past cases the workshop contacted them as well. In one case a parcel was reported lost, a claim was opened, and it was then found and delivered.

## On the cutting table: the playroom corner

| | |
|---|---|
| Piece | Corner floor cushion with shaped pillows against the walls |
| Fabric | Ivory corduroy |
| Edge | Box edge, straight gusset all around |
| Piping | None |
| Height | Low enough for toddlers to climb on and off unaided |
| Pillows | Cream star, mustard round, lilac cloud |
| Best for | Playrooms and kids' reading corners |
| Before ordering | Settle quantities and the price of each piece before checkout |

> A corner floor cushion for toddlers needs a box edge: children sit on the front rim, and a straight gusset keeps that rim square under a knee.

> **Tailor's margin:** For a play corner, keep two or three pillows and push them to the wall. The open seat belongs to the toys.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Is corduroy a sensible fabric for a playroom floor cushion?

It suits a corner that gets sat on and climbed over, and a pale shade like ivory lets toys and children stand out. Ask for every piece to be cut with the wale running the same way, so the color reads evenly across the whole corner.

### Does a toddler corner cushion need piping?

No. A plain box edge gives a soft, clean line with nothing for small fingers to pick at. Piping sharpens an outline, which matters more on a window seat or a banquette than on a playroom floor.

### Can a corner floor cushion have rounded or angled corners?

Yes. Rounded and angled corners are cut from a measured drawing: mark the radius or the angle and write down every side length. A box edge follows a curve just as well as it follows a straight run.

### What should I list when asking for a floor sofa quote?

Every piece with its length, depth and thickness, how many of each, and the fabric. Ask for the price of each piece and the total, so nothing shifts between the quote and the checkout.
