# Charcoal and blush corduroy play arches set out as a tunnel run, and how to order them right

*Two arches and a half-dome, pulled apart into a tunnel run. The pieces are simple. Ordering them well takes one careful message.*

> **The quick answer:** Order a kids' floor play set by writing one fabric code per piece in your message, checking the swatches in your room's daylight, and confirming the overall size against the space before you pay. Here charcoal, blush and sage corduroy pieces step down from large to small. A color change after production costs the production price, so check twice.

## Pinned by Hana: five stops along the run

Five pins along the run, from the charcoal arch at the back to the sage half-dome in front.

1. **Charcoal arch**: The darkest color on the biggest piece keeps it from looking bulky.
2. **Tunnel opening**: The inside curve is fully covered, so crawling through is comfortable.
3. **Blush arch**: The mid arch becomes a second, smaller tunnel.
4. **Sage half-dome**: The dome ends the run as a step or seat.
5. **Wooden toy kitchen**: Real toys behind the set place it in an everyday playroom.

## Large, then smaller, then small: sizing the corduroy arches

Three pieces in one line. Largest at the back, smallest nearest you.

The charcoal arch is the biggest and the darkest. Dark on the largest shape keeps it from looking bulky in a small room. The blush arch comes next and makes a second, smaller tunnel. The sage half-dome ends the run as a step, or a seat for a child who is done crawling.

The inside of each curve is covered in the same corduroy as the outside. Knees and elbows go there, so it matters. Box edges, no piping. Nothing ridged under a hand.

The wooden toy kitchen and the rope basket of blocks say this room gets used. The star-dotted rug softens the floor between pieces, and the book ledge keeps stories at a child's height. The big window and linen curtains give even daylight, the right light for judging colors before you choose them.

The pieces sit about a child's stride apart. Close enough to crawl from one tunnel to the next, far enough to read as a course. Children measure comfort with their whole body. Which piece would yours reach for first?

Big, then smaller, then small.
Dark, then pink, then green.
A child reads it like a sentence.

## One message that gets the order right the first time

- ✓ One fabric code per piece, written out: which code goes on the large arch, the small arch and the half-dome.
- ✓ Swatches first. Look at them on your own floor, in daylight, before you commit; [swatches before ordering](https://cushionguide.com/guides/fabric-swatches-before-ordering/) explains the routine.
- ✓ Overall sizes checked against the room: height, width and the length the set takes up when pulled apart.
- ✓ How the pieces should stay put. Ties on the back can be added and a non-slip base is possible; snaps underneath are not made.
- ✓ A last read of the colors before you confirm. After production, a change means paying the production cost for a remake.

## The tiny house with a 30-inch height limit

A parent in the US wrote to the workshop about a tiny house on wheels. They wanted a frameless floor sofa about 77 in (196 cm) wide, no taller than 30 in (76 cm), that could open to 60 to 65 in (152 to 165 cm) for sleeping, ideally in cotton.

The workshop suggested its modular corduroy sofa instead: 78.5 in (199 cm) wide, 29 in (74 cm) high and 39 in (99 cm) deep, with a 14 in (36 cm) seat height. It sent those dimensions before anyone paid, so the family could check them against the space.

Notice the order. Numbers first, then fabric, then color. In a small room, overall height and opened length decide more than softness does. [Tiny house and loft floor seating](https://cushionguide.com/concepts/tiny-house-and-loft-floor-seating/) collects more of these.

## Buyer questions: velcro, snaps and a color chosen twice

**A common question:** On the modular sofa, are the back pillows held on with velcro, and are the seat cushions joined together?

**The workshop's answer:** Nothing is fastened. The backrests are heavy enough to stay in place on their own, the metal bars around the base keep the shape, and every cushion lifts out so you can separate and rearrange them.

**A common question:** Could you sew snaps under the cushions so they clip onto the bench frame?

**The workshop's answer:** Snap fasteners underneath are not something the workshop makes. Ties on the back can be added, and a non-slip base is the other way to keep cushions from moving.

**A common question:** I picked the wrong color on my custom order and it has already been made. What are my options?

**The workshop's answer:** Once it is made, the workshop can remake it in the new color if you cover the production cost; otherwise the original ships. Custom pieces follow the marketplace's standard return rule: the buyer pays return shipping and any loss in value if the item doesn't come back in its original condition. For a fresh custom order, ask for the production time in writing.

## Questions buyers ask next

### How far apart should play arches sit on a playroom floor?

About a child's stride. Close enough to crawl from one tunnel into the next, far enough that each piece reads as its own station. Nest them back together when you need the floor for something else.

### Which color belongs on the largest piece of a kids' play set?

The darkest one. Charcoal on the biggest arch keeps it from dominating a small room, while lighter blush and sage on the smaller pieces keep the front of the line bright and inviting.

### Should I choose a floor sofa by its width alone?

No. In a small space, check the overall height and the length it takes up when opened or pulled apart. One family set a 30 in (76 cm) height limit and a 60 to 65 in (152 to 165 cm) sleeping length before choosing.

### Can each piece of a play set be a different color?

Yes, as the charcoal, blush and sage pieces here show. Name the fabric code for each piece by its position in your order message, so nobody has to guess which color goes where.
