# I ordered the wrong size. Do I just pay the difference if the new one is bigger?

*Nobody needs to cancel anything. Catch it before production and the fix is a two-line message; the table shows how real corrections settled.*

Also asked as: I accidentally ordered 28x56 but meant 28x60; I wrote down the measurements wrong

> **The quick answer:** If you ordered the wrong cushion size, there is no need to cancel: before production, the workshop makes it at the correct size and settles the difference. A bigger size means paying only the difference through a payment link, a smaller one gets the difference refunded, and small corrections within what you paid are simply updated. Final sizes are confirmed in writing.

## Key facts

- Size corrections are made before production, without cancelling the order.
- A bigger size is paid as the difference through a payment link, rest-of-payment link or extra-fee listing.
- A smaller size gets the difference refunded.
- Small corrections within the paid size, like 16 x 44 in to 16 x 46 in, are updated at no cost.
- The workshop has rounded down or waived the difference, especially on multi-cushion orders.
- Corrected sizes are confirmed before anything is cut.
- Bench orders are re-quoted on an updated custom link, keeping the cushion no longer than the bench.

## How real size corrections settled

| Ordered | Changed to | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| 28 x 56 in (71 x 142 cm) | 28 x 60 in (71 x 152 cm) | Difference paid by payment link |
| 27 x 64 in (69 x 163 cm) | 35 x 75 in (89 x 191 cm) | Difference reduced; other cushions were in the same order |
| 31.5 x 31.5 in (80 x 80 cm) | 39 x 39 in (100 x 100 cm) | Difference paid through a separate link |
| 12 x 12 in (30 x 30 cm) | 22 x 22 in (56 x 56 cm) | Difference paid by link |
| 62 in (157 cm), a typo | 82 in (208 cm) | Corrected with one message; difference paid |
| 16 x 44 in (41 x 112 cm) | 16 x 46 in (41 x 117 cm) | [yes] Simply updated, covered by what was paid |
| A larger size option | A cheaper, smaller option | [yes] Difference refunded |

## Why the calendar matters more than the math

The difference is the easy part. Timing is the part that matters. Before production, a size change is a note on the order; the workshop confirms the final sizes and sends a payment link for any difference, or refunds it if the new size lands in a cheaper option.

I have written a 6 where I meant an 8 myself, so no lectures here. One buyer's 62 in became 82 in with a single message. In one case the fabric had already been cut, and the workshop stopped and recut it to the corrected size, but don't plan on that kindness: once a custom piece is in production, it is made only for you.

For [bench cushions](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/bench-cushions/), the workshop re-quotes and updates the custom link, keeping the cushion no longer than the bench. Measure the bench, not the cushion you used to have; the [bench measuring Pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/how-to-measure-bench-for-cushion/) shows how, and [remakes and fixes](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-cushion-remake-wrong-size-color/) covers the rest. When did you last put a tape on the bench itself, dear?

## Fixing a size, in order

1. **Message the corrected size at once**: Write every number with its unit. Before production, nothing needs cancelling.
2. **Wait for the confirmed sizes**: The workshop confirms the final dimensions before anything is cut.
3. **Settle the difference**: Bigger: a payment link, rest-of-payment link or extra-fee listing. A cheaper, smaller option: the difference comes back to you.
4. **Check the bench link**: Bench orders get an updated custom link, and the cushion stays no longer than the bench.

> **Tailor's margin:** A wrong cushion size caught before production is a two-line fix: a bigger size costs only the difference by payment link, and a smaller one gets it back.

> Send a corrected cushion size before production starts; a bigger size then costs only the difference, and the order never needs cancelling.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** I picked the wrong cushion size. Can I switch without cancelling?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. There's no need to cancel; pay the price difference through a payment link. Going from 28 x 56 to 28 x 60 in was settled that way, and a change from 27 x 64 to 35 x 75 in was reduced because other cushions were in the same order.

**A common question:** I made a mistake in my measurements after ordering. Can I fix them?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Send the corrected size right away so it's updated before production, for example 25½ x 49½ in (65 x 126 cm) changed to 25¼ x 48¾ in (64 x 124 cm). If the new size is larger than the option you paid for, the difference is paid through a rest-of-payment link.

**A common question:** I entered the wrong measurements. Is it too late to change them?

**The workshop's answer:** Not if production hasn't started. The workshop confirms the final sizes and sends a payment link for any difference, sometimes rounded down. In one case the fabric was already cut, and the workshop stopped and recut it to the corrected size.

**A common question:** I measured again and the cushion I ordered won't fit. Can I change the size instead of cancelling?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes, before production starts the order can be changed to the size that fits. When one buyer moved up to a 39 x 39 in (1 x 1 m) cushion, the workshop covered the difference itself.

## Questions buyers ask next

### What if the cushion is already in production?

Once a custom piece is in production it is made only for you, so a full refund isn't guaranteed. In past cases the workshop refunded part of the price, minus material and production costs, or held the order to ship later.

### Can I change the thickness as well as the size?

Yes, before production starts or the fabric is cut. Message the new thickness; the workshop updates the order and confirms it. Changes that don't alter the price cost nothing.

### Does going smaller always mean money back?

Only if the new size falls in a cheaper size option; then the difference is refunded. A small trim inside the same option, such as 25½ x 49½ in (65 x 126 cm) to 25¼ x 48¾ in (64 x 124 cm), is simply updated at no charge.
