# My sofa covers came in the wrong color. Do I have to send them back?

*Ordered brick, opened blue. It happens, neighbor, and it is usually easier to fix than it looks from the front step.*

Also asked as: We got mustard and we ordered brick.; Part of the couch is green instead of orange.

> **The quick answer:** In past cases, wrong-color sofa covers rarely had to go back when the color mistake was the workshop's. Send a full, well-lit photo of the set and ask the workshop to confirm in writing what it will send. Buyers have been offered the wrong set as a spare, sometimes free, sometimes at a discount or for just its shipping cost.

## Key facts

- For a color error, the workshop's reply states what it will send; in past cases it was the correct-color covers.
- A full, well-lit photo of the set comes first.
- Shipping a sofa set back is expensive, so the wrong set rarely travels back.
- Buyers have kept the wrong set as a spare, on terms that varied: free, discounted, or for its shipping cost.
- When a requested color change was missed, the correct set was remade at a reduced price.
- A replacement sofa cover set is 4 pieces: two seat covers and two L-backrest covers, without foam or bars.
- The seat covers fit mattresses of about 79 x 39 x 6.5 in (200 x 100 x 17 cm).
- Sofa corduroy comes in about 9 to 10 listed colors.

## What happens after the wrong color arrives

1. **Photograph the whole set**: One full, well-lit photo, so the color difference and every affected piece are plain to see.
2. **Read the workshop's answer**: The reply states what it will send; in past cases that was the correct-color covers, plus any bars that were missing.
3. **Decide about the wrong set**: Buyers have usually been offered to keep it as a spare, sometimes free, sometimes at a discount or for just its shipping cost.

## Pink where yellow should have been

A buyer in the US wrote to the workshop that a floor sofa came pink, not the yellow on the order. The workshop re-sent the correct yellow set at a reduced price, and the pink one stayed in the house. Another buyer in the US had a navy set remade free and kept the first set too.

So the terms aren't identical every time, neighbor. Settle yours before anything goes back in a box, and keep that message.

## Why the wrong set usually stays with you

Shipping a whole sofa set back is expensive. So in past cases the workshop sent the right covers and let the wrong ones become a spare, and in a house full of kids and dogs, a second set of covers is no bad thing. Kids and dogs are the real quality control.

When a color change you asked for gets missed, the fix has come as a remake at a reduced price rather than free. > **Tailor's margin:** Wrong-color sofa covers have rarely had to go back: send one full, well-lit photo of the set and wait for the workshop's answer before packing anything.

> Sofa covers that arrive in the wrong color have often stayed as a spare set, free or at a discount; keep the workshop's message with its offer for the right color.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** I got the wrong color covers. Do I have to send them back?

**The workshop's answer:** Usually not, neighbor. Send one full, well-lit photo first. In past cases it sent the correct covers and any missing bars, and because return shipping on a sofa set is expensive, the wrong set stayed as a spare, offered at a large discount.

**A common question:** I ordered brick but received blue covers. What now?

**The workshop's answer:** In that case the correct color was sent, and the buyer could keep the blue set by paying only its shipping cost.

**A common question:** The color I received isn't the one I ordered. What will you do?

**The workshop's answer:** Send a full, well-lit photo of the set. In one case the set was remade in navy free and the buyer kept the first one; in another, the correct yellow set was re-sent at a reduced price and the buyer kept the pink set.

**A common question:** I asked to change the color, but the couch arrived in the old one. What can be done?

**The workshop's answer:** When the workshop missed a requested color change, it apologized and remade the couch in the right color at a reduced price.

## Questions buyers ask next

### What if I picked the wrong color myself?

Tell the workshop straight away. Before production, the fabric code can simply be changed. Once the covers are made, they have been remade in the right color at production cost, often as just a new cover. One new custom order was quoted at 7-9 days to make.

### Why does the workshop ask for a photo first?

A full, well-lit photo of the whole set shows the color difference clearly and which pieces are affected, so the correct covers, and any missing bars, can go out together in one shipment.

### What if bars were missing from the box as well?

Say so along with the photo, and ask for the missing bars to travel with the correct-color covers, so the sofa can be put together properly once the new set arrives.
