# Do you ship on weekends or during holidays?

*Couriers keep their own calendar, and a finished cushion waits for it. Here is when a parcel sits still, when it moves, and how long the last leg takes.*

Also asked as: Please post as soon as possible; Why hasn't my order shipped yet?

> **The quick answer:** No, finished cushions don't ship on weekends or during the workshop's holiday closures, because the workshop is closed and couriers don't collect. The order goes out on the next working day, which is when the tracking number appears. Parcels already in transit can pause over a holiday, then resume. Once collected, FedEx express is the fastest option; ask for the current transit time.

## Key facts

- The workshop is closed on weekends, and couriers don't collect then.
- An order finished over a weekend ships on the next working day, when tracking appears.
- Holidays on the workshop's calendar close all couriers until they reopen.
- Parcels already in transit can pause at the carrier during those holidays, then resume.
- Shipments go by FedEx express, the fastest option offered.
- Transit time starts when the courier collects; ask for the current estimate.
- Orders held up by a holiday closure have then been sent expedited.

## When a finished order moves, and when it waits

| Situation | What happens | When tracking moves |
|---|---|---|
| Finished late in the week or on a weekend | Waits; no courier pickup on weekends | Next working day |
| Workshop holiday | All couriers closed | When couriers reopen |
| Already in transit when a holiday starts | May pause at the carrier | Resumes after the holiday |
| Collected by FedEx express | The fastest option offered | Moves right away; ask for the transit estimate |
| Floor sofa or multi-piece order | Ships as several boxes | Each box tracked; they may land apart |

## Why the tracking number shows up on a weekday

A cushion can be finished on a Saturday. It still won't move until the next working day. The workshop is shut on weekends and no courier comes to the door, so the tracking number is created when the parcel is actually handed over.

Holidays work the same way, only longer. On the workshop's holidays every courier closes, and dispatch waits for them to reopen. A parcel already on its way can also sit at the carrier through the holiday, then pick up where it left off. Think of a storm cell stalled on the radar: stopped, not gone.

Once FedEx express has it, the clock runs on the carrier's estimate, so ask for the current one. Bigger pieces, like [modular floor sofas](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/modular-floor-sofas/), travel in several boxes. When they land, the [first 72 hours out of the vacuum pack](https://cushionguide.com/guides/vacuum-packed-cushion-first-72-hours/) matter more than the day they arrived.

## The sofa that stalled, then arrived in pieces

A buyer in the US wrote to the workshop worried. The tracking had sat still at FedEx for days, and when boxes finally came, only part of the sofa was there.

Nothing was lost. A public holiday on the workshop's calendar had paused parcel movements at the carrier, and they resumed once it ended. The sofa had shipped as several packages, and the missing pieces were simply the other boxes, still out for delivery.

If that is you, friend, open every tracking number before you count anything as missing.

## Before you write 'why hasn't it shipped'

- ✓ Check whether the order was finished on a Friday or over a weekend
- ✓ Ask whether a workshop holiday falls in the gap
- ✓ Open every tracking number, not just the first one
- ✓ Count the boxes against the pieces you ordered
- ✓ Ask for the transit time, counted from the day FedEx collects

> **Tailor's margin:** Count the boxes before you worry: a floor sofa ships as several parcels, each with its own tracking number, and they can land a day or so apart.

> No courier pickup on weekends: a cushion finished on Saturday ships on the next working day, and the FedEx express clock starts then.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** Are there times when you can't ship at all?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. The workshop is closed on weekends, so anything finished then goes out the following week, and during its holiday closures all couriers close, so dispatch waits until they reopen.

**A common question:** When will I get a tracking number? Does anything ship on weekends?

**The workshop's answer:** No weekend shipping. The courier doesn't collect on weekends and the workshop is closed, so finished orders go out on the next working day, which is when the tracking number appears. FedEx express is the fastest option; ask for the current transit time.

**A common question:** My parcel has been stuck at FedEx for days, and only part of my sofa came. Is that normal?

**The workshop's answer:** It can be. Holidays on the workshop's calendar can pause parcel movements, which then resume. Larger items like sofas ship in several packages that may arrive separately, so missing pieces are often just the other boxes still out for delivery.

**A common question:** Which courier do you use: FedEx, UPS or DHL?

**The workshop's answer:** Mainly FedEx express, with UPS for large parcels such as sofas. No budget couriers, and each parcel gets its own tracking number when it ships.

## Questions buyers ask next

### How long does delivery take once the courier has my cushion?

Ask the workshop for the current FedEx express estimate for your address; it's the fastest option the workshop uses. The count starts when the courier collects the parcel, not when the cushion is finished, so a weekend or holiday in between adds days before it begins.

### I'll be traveling when my order is due. Can delivery wait for me?

Yes. Share your travel dates and the workshop holds the order, reconfirms with you, and ships it to arrive after you return. Exact delivery days can't be guaranteed, but you can adjust the day directly with the courier.

### If a multi-piece order shows several tracking numbers, is something wrong?

No. Multi-piece orders ship as separate parcels, each with its own tracking number, and they often arrive a day or so apart. If a piece is truly missing, message the workshop with all the tracking numbers so the missing parcel can be traced with the carrier.
