# Will your covers fit a floor sofa I bought from another brand?

*Often, yes. The fit depends on the foam, not the label. Measure what is inside.*

Also asked as: Will covers from another brand fit your sofa?; Measurements of the foam or the current cover?

> **The quick answer:** Standard-size replacement covers often fit a teddy floor sofa from another brand, and owners of the original designer model reported no measurement issues. For foam bought elsewhere, measure the foam insert itself, not the old cover, measure the backrest pieces too and send photos. Pieces with curved edges are declined; a standard-shape set is offered instead.

## Key facts

- Standard-size covers have fit the original designer teddy floor sofa with no measurement issues.
- Owners of that sofa can order the standard covers directly.
- For foam from another seller, measure the foam insert, not the old cover; covers stretch or shrink.
- Measure the backrest pieces too and send photos, because 'L-shape' can mean different constructions.
- Pieces with curved edges can't be covered reliably, so they are declined.
- Instead, the workshop offers its own standard-shape set: L-shape covers and foam, plus floor covers.

## Measure these before ordering covers

- ✓ The **foam insert** itself: length, width and thickness, in inches.
- ✓ Each **seat layer** on its own, if the layers stack.
- ✓ Every **backrest piece**, including any L-shaped section.
- ✓ **Photos** of each piece from the side, so the construction shows.
- ✓ The **edges**: straight or curved.

## Do not rely on these

- ✗ The old cover. It has stretched or shrunk.
- ✗ The word 'L-shape' alone. It means different things to different makers.
- ✗ A curved-edge piece. Those can't be covered reliably.

## Why the old cover misleads

A cover lives on the outside. Over time it stretches or shrinks. The foam keeps its size.

For the original designer [teddy floor sofa](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/modular-floor-sofas/), the sizes are standard. Owners ordered [replacement covers](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/cushion-covers/) straight from the size menu and reported a good fit. For reference, that sofa is 39 × 79 in (100 × 200 cm), with two stacked 6.5 in (16.5 cm) seat layers.

What does your foam measure without its cover? Send that, with photos. The [floor sofa replacement covers](https://cushionguide.com/guides/floor-sofa-replacement-covers/) pattern shows where to put the tape.

Foam keeps its size.
Covers do not.
Measure what stays.

## A foam couch from another seller

A buyer wrote to the workshop about a foam floor couch bought elsewhere, with an L-shaped back. The workshop asked for the foam measurements, not the cover's, and for photos of the backrest.

The pieces had curved edges. A cover could not follow them reliably, so the workshop said so and offered its own standard-shape set instead: L-shape covers and foam, plus covers for the floor pieces.

> **Tailor's margin:** Measure the foam insert, not the old cover. A teddy floor sofa cover that has stretched or shrunk will give you the wrong size.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** Will your replacement covers fit the original designer teddy floor sofa?

**The workshop's answer:** Several owners of that sofa ordered covers and were happy with the fit, with no measurement issues. The sizes are standard, so you can order directly.

**A common question:** Can you make custom covers for a foam floor couch I bought from another seller?

**The workshop's answer:** Possibly. Measure the foam insert rather than the old cover, check the backrest pieces and send photos, because 'L-shape' can mean different constructions. Curved-edge pieces can't be covered reliably, so a standard-shape set was offered instead.

**A common question:** Can the floor sofa be made in a custom length or width?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes, starting from a standard size: order the nearest one, about 79 or 118 in (200 or 300 cm), write the exact dimensions in the personalization note and message to confirm. Other sizes carry a customization fee.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Can I order covers only and keep my existing foam?

Yes, if the sizes match: owners of the original designer teddy sofa have ordered standard-size covers alone. For foam from other makers, send the insert measurements and photos first so the workshop can check the fit.

### What is the seat height of a teddy floor sofa?

Two stacked 6.5 in (16.5 cm) seat layers give a seat height of about 13 to 14 in (33 to 36 cm). With backrests the sofa stands about 28 in (71 cm) tall.

### Can a teddy floor sofa work as a guest bed?

Yes. Laid flat, it gives roughly a 79 × 79 in (200 × 200 cm) surface, about king size, on 1.75 lb/ft³ (28 kg/m³) cold foam that two adults can share for multi-week guest stays.
