# Why do you need my phone number for delivery?

*Short answer, friend: the courier won't move a parcel without one. Here is what the number does and where to put it.*

Also asked as: Why do you need my phone number?; Here is my phone number for delivery.

> **The quick answer:** The express courier, FedEx or UPS, needs a reachable phone number for every delivery, so the workshop asks each buyer for one after purchase. Without it, FedEx may hold the parcel, and missing contact details can mean a failed delivery or a box sent back. Write the full number, country code included, in the order note, the personalization box or a message.

## Key facts

- FedEx or UPS requires a recipient phone number for every delivery.
- The workshop asks every buyer for a phone number after purchase.
- FedEx may hold a shipment until it has a number.
- Missing contact details can cause failed deliveries or parcels returned to the sender.
- Write the number with its country code, and give a complete address with ZIP code.
- The number can go in the personalization box, the order note or a message after ordering.
- Gate or intercom codes go into the courier notes, and the courier calls if it can't reach you.

## What the courier does with your number

The courier, FedEx or UPS, won't run a delivery without a phone number to call. Rain doesn't negotiate, and neither does a dispatcher. So after every purchase the workshop asks for yours and passes it to the courier with the parcel.

The number is for reaching you: to arrange the drop, and to call if nobody answers the door. Without one, FedEx may hold the shipment until it gets a number, and a parcel with no way to reach you can fail delivery or go back to the sender. ## Three places to put your delivery phone number

1. **The order note**: Type it in at checkout, country code included.
2. **The personalization box**: It can ride along with your size and fabric notes; see [how to write a personalization note](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-cushion-personalization-note/).
3. **A message after ordering**: Forgot it? Send it by message. The workshop asks if it's missing.

## Before the box leaves

- ✓ Phone number in full, with country code.
- ✓ Street address complete, ZIP code included.
- ✓ Gate or intercom code, if your building has one; it goes into the courier notes.
- ✓ A phone you'll answer: the courier calls if it can't reach you.

> The phone number on a cushion order is for the courier: FedEx or UPS uses it to reach you, and a parcel with no number can be held or sent back.

> **Tailor's margin:** Put a gate or intercom code in the cushion order note next to your phone number; both go into the courier notes for the driver.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** I forgot to add my phone number at checkout. Is that a problem?

**The workshop's answer:** Not if you send it now. It's usually captured with the order, and you'll be asked for it if it's missing. Send it by message or in the order note.

**A common question:** Why does the courier need a phone number at all?

**The workshop's answer:** So the courier can reach you directly and avoid a failed delivery or a parcel returned to the sender. The number is noted on the order; send it in a message or the order note.

**A common question:** Where do I put my phone number on a cushion order?

**The workshop's answer:** In the order note or the personalization box, or message it after ordering. The courier, FedEx or UPS, needs it to arrange delivery.

**A common question:** Only part of my cushion set arrived. Were the pieces shipped separately?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Multi-piece orders ship as separate parcels with their own tracking numbers and can arrive on different days. If a piece is truly missing, photograph what arrived, message the workshop and keep its written answer on what it will do.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Will separate cushion orders arrive in one box?

Usually not. Separate orders ship separately, each with its own tracking, timed to go out together. Ask before dispatch and they can be combined into one shipment.

### How long does delivery take once the parcel ships?

Ask the workshop for the current estimate once the courier collects it. Exact days can't be guaranteed, so leave a little slack if the cushions are needed for a date.

### What if I left out the country code?

Send the number again by message, in full and with the country code. The courier needs a number it can actually dial to arrange delivery.
