# Do you have patterned cushion fabrics, not just plain colors?

*Most of the chart is solid color, my friends, and that is by design. But the pattern drawer is real, and it opens when you ask.*

Also asked as: Do you offer fabrics with patterns?; Any plaid or tartan fabrics available?

> **The quick answer:** Yes, patterned fabric for custom cushions is available, though the core range is mostly plain solid colors. Patterns include beige/white and black/white stripes, oriental designs, plaid and tartan in brown, green, blue and red tones, and patterned velvets such as black-and-white designs. Extra pattern charts come on request, at no price difference from the shop's plain fabrics.

## Key facts

- The range is mostly plain, solid colors.
- Stripes come in beige/white and black/white, plus striped linens.
- Oriental-design fabrics are available.
- Plaid and tartan come in brown, green, blue and red tones.
- Patterned velvets include black-and-white designs.
- There is no price difference between the shop's own fabrics.
- Prints found elsewhere can sometimes be sourced from a photo, at a higher price.
- Most striped fabrics are 100% cotton, with woven stripes from about ¼ in to 2 in wide depending on the code.
- The fabric roll is about 55 in wide, so stripes on a long cushion run front to back by default.

## What's in the pattern drawer

- ✓ Stripes: beige and white, black and white, and striped linens
- ✓ Oriental designs, with photos of finished cushions on request
- ✓ Plaid and tartan in brown, green, blue and red tones
- ✓ Patterned velvets, including black-and-white designs
- ✓ Extra pattern charts, sent when you ask

## What usually isn't on the shelf

- ✗ Gingham checks
- ✗ French stripes and graphic prints spotted in other rooms
- ✗ A stripe recolored to your palette: stripe colors are fixed by the mill
- ✗ A wide choice of natural-fiber patterns

## Linen or cotton only? The drawer gets small

Ask for pattern in natural fibers and the choice narrows to the stripes and one other design; most patterned fabrics in the range are polyester blends. If natural fiber matters more than pattern, a plain [linen or cotton-linen](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/linen-and-cotton-linen/) with a contrast piping can carry the look.

Found a print somewhere else? Send a reference photo. The shop will try to source it, at a higher price than its standard fabrics. For a blue-and-white ticking, it asked one buyer for the exact fabric before looking into it.

## Pattern or plain? Let the room answer

Pattern is a voice. On a long [floor cushion](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/floor-cushions/) or bench, a bold black-and-white print like the one in the photograph holds the whole wall. In a room already busy with rugs and art, a plain [velvet](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/velvet/) lets the pattern elsewhere speak. Let one color speak and the others listen.

Price won't decide for you, since the shop's own fabrics cost the same, plain or patterned. For stripes, read the [stripe direction Pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/striped-cushion-stripe-direction/) before you order. What in your room already carries a pattern?

> **Tailor's margin:** Patterned cushion fabric costs the same as plain in the shop's own range; only prints sourced from your photo cost more.

> Stripes are woven by the mill, so a stripe's colors are fixed; pick the closest existing stripe or change the piping color instead.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** Do you have patterned fabrics, and do they cost more than plain ones?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes, there are extra patterned fabric charts, shared on request. There is no price difference between the shop's fabrics, so you can choose freely.

**A common question:** Any plaid or tartan for a bench cushion?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Plaid and tartan come in brown, green, blue and red tones, and the shop sends the chart page so you can choose.

**A common question:** Do you have other patterns in natural fabrics, linen or cotton only?

**The workshop's answer:** Natural-fiber patterns are limited to the stripes and one more design; most other patterned fabrics are polyester blends. Send a reference photo of what you have in mind and the shop may be able to source it at a higher price.

**A common question:** Do you carry gingham, a French stripe or graphic prints?

**The workshop's answer:** The range is mostly plain, solid colors, and those prints weren't stocked; a plain velvet color was suggested instead. For a blue-and-white ticking stripe, the shop asked for the exact fabric so it could look into it.

**A common question:** Can I mix fabrics, say a patterned body with plain piping?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. Fabric families can be mixed, such as a linen body with velvet piping or different top and side fabrics. Two fabrics add a small surcharge; list each part's code in personalization.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Can a stripe be made in my own colors?

No. Stripes are woven by the fabric manufacturer, so their colors are fixed and a plain color can't be turned into a stripe. Pick the closest existing stripe, change the piping color, or ask the shop to source a similar print.

### How do I choose from the extra pattern charts?

Ask for them, and the shop sends photos or links of the options, sometimes with photos of cushions already made in them. Type the code of the one you choose in your order's personalization box.

### Will a sourced print cost more than a stocked pattern?

Yes. A print the shop sources from your reference photo costs more than its standard fabrics, while patterns already in the range cost the same as plain colors. Sourcing is an attempt, not a promise, so keep a stocked second choice in mind.
