# Are the fabrics on the listing my only options?

*A listing is a shop window, not the whole shop. What hangs there is the best-selling chart; the rest waits in other charts, on request.*

Also asked as: Are the listing fabrics the only options?; Do you have a full fabric assortment?

> **The quick answer:** The fabrics on a listing are not your only options; they are the most-ordered ones, usually shown as a single color chart. More charts, including a second linen chart, teddy and patterned ranges, are shared on request or through the fabric-samples listing. Codes seen in photos but missing from the chart can go in your order notes, and special fabrics can be sourced, sometimes at a higher price.

## Key facts

- Each listing shows the most-ordered fabrics, usually as one color chart.
- More fabric charts are shared on request, including by drive link.
- The full range can be browsed through the fabric-samples listing.
- Codes seen in photos but not on the chart, such as L-54, can be written in the order notes.
- Fabrics sourced beyond the standard range can cost more.
- Different fabrics can be mixed within one order.
- The outdoor range alone carries about 150-200 colors in several charts.
- Natural linen, viscose, 100% cotton and outdoor fabrics cost more than the standard indoor charts.

## Why only one chart hangs in the window

Most listings wear a single color chart, my friends, and it is the chart of best-sellers. The most-ordered fabrics earn the window; the rest of the range waits behind the counter.

Behind it hang a second linen chart, a teddy range, patterned ranges and more, shared by drive link on request. The fabric-samples listing carries the full range, so the real cloth can sit against your own wall. [Ordering fabric swatches](https://cushionguide.com/guides/fabric-swatches-before-ordering/) explains how to choose samples that settle it.

Fabrics sourced beyond the standard charts are priced above them, so expect a quote first.

So tell me: what color are you really hunting for?

For the cloth itself, begin with [linen and cotton-linen](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/linen-and-cotton-linen/) and [bouclé and teddy](https://cushionguide.com/fabrics/boucle-and-teddy/), then see them on [bench cushions](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/bench-cushions/).

## Burnt orange, turquoise and a teddy the listing never showed

A buyer in the US wrote to the workshop with two sofas already in the room, one burnt orange, one turquoise, and a fair question: were they limited to the colors we advertise?

They were not. The workshop reached past the listing into the teddy range, suggested teddy color 4256 and sent a larger photo so the loops could be judged. The buyer then built the pillows like a conversation: the teddy beside velvets in orange, washed denim, ink navy and cream.

Two loud colors want a quiet texture between them. The teddy was that texture.

## Five ways past the listing chart

- ✓ Ask for the other charts: a second linen chart, teddy and patterned ranges travel by drive link.
- ✓ Browse the fabric-samples listing, which carries the full range rather than one chart.
- ✓ Spotted a code in a photo that the chart lacks? Write it, such as L-54, in the personalization or order notes.
- ✓ Describe the color, material or look you want, even raw silk or a fabric from a photo.
- ✓ Mix fabrics within one order, one code per piece.

> **Tailor's margin:** Listing fabrics are only the best-sellers. A code spotted in a photo, like L-54, can still be ordered: write it in the order notes.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** I can see colors in your photos that aren't on the swatch chart. Is there a fuller assortment?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. The workshop shares extra charts, including a drive link with all of them and a second linen chart. L-54, for example, isn't on the standard chart but is available: write the code in the personalization or order notes.

**A common question:** Could you use a fabric that's not on your chart, such as raw silk or corduroy?

**The workshop's answer:** Often, sometimes at a higher price. The workshop made a floor cushion in a pink fabric a buyer chose from a photo, agreed to raw silk for a 25 × 58 in (64 × 147 cm) bench cushion at extra cost, and made a corner floor cushion in green corduroy.

**A common question:** How do I tell which fabric a color code belongs to?

**The workshop's answer:** The prefix names the fabric: L is linen, K acrylic-linen, N cotton stripes, the 100s velvet, the 900s soft fabric, COR corduroy, M and T outdoor, and 0- bouclé.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Does a fabric from outside the standard charts cost more?

It can. Fabrics sourced beyond the standard range are priced above the charts and quoted one by one. Raw silk for a bench cushion, for instance, was agreed at extra cost.

### Can one order combine velvet, teddy and linen?

Yes. Different fabrics can be mixed within one order, so a set of pillows can move from teddy to velvet to linen. List each piece with its own fabric code in the order notes.

### What should I send if all I have is a photo of the fabric I want?

Send the photo with a few words on the color, material and feel you are after. The workshop looks for the closest options and sends larger photos so you can compare before ordering.
