# Is shipping included in the price, or is there a delivery charge?

*Shipping is the squall nobody sees coming at checkout. Here's how to read the price, and the few times a separate fee shows up.*

Also asked as: Is there a shipping fee?; Would shipping be included or separate?

> **The quick answer:** Shipping on a custom cushion depends on the listing and the quote: custom cushions to the US have gone by express courier, large orders UPS Express and the rest FedEx Express, and the quote states the shipping cost for your address. Past standard US listings showed no separate shipping line, a few bespoke ones carried a fee, and an odd checkout charge is worth a message first.

## Key facts

- The quote for a custom cushion states the shipping cost for your address.
- One custom quote to the US was given as the delivered price, express shipping included.
- Past US orders went by express courier: UPS Express for large orders, FedEx Express for others.
- Delivery time is counted from dispatch, after the cushion has been cut and sewn; the current courier time comes with your quote.
- A daybed slipcover order showed no separate shipping fee.
- A few bespoke listings, such as one daybed cushion, carry a separate shipping fee.
- An unusually high shipping charge at checkout once turned out to be a system error, and it was corrected.

## What the number at checkout carries

| What you're ordering | Shipping | How it travels |
|---|---|---|
| Standard listing to a US address | No separate shipping line in past orders | Express courier |
| Custom quote | Shipping cost stated on the quote | UPS Express for large orders, FedEx Express otherwise |
| Daybed slipcover | No separate fee in one past order | Express courier |
| Some bespoke listings, such as one daybed cushion | Separate fee shown at checkout | Express courier |
| A charge that looks far too high | Ask before paying; one was a system error | Corrected by the workshop |

## Reading a custom quote for the landed number

Rain doesn't negotiate, and a price shouldn't either. When the workshop quotes a custom cushion, ask it to say plainly whether shipping is in the figure. Get that in writing, and no second bill waits on the porch.

The express run to US addresses is routine for the workshop: big orders have ridden UPS Express, smaller ones FedEx Express.

After a quote? The [what-to-send Pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/custom-cushion-quote-what-to-send/) lists the measurements that get you a full quote in one reply. If your [daybed cushion](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/daybed-cushions/) arrives vacuum-packed, read [the first 72 hours](https://cushionguide.com/guides/vacuum-packed-cushion-first-72-hours/) before you cut the plastic; the foam can take 3-5 days to regain its full shape. Does the total on your screen match the quote you were sent?

## Four checks before you press pay

- ✓ The checkout total matches the quote you were given, shipping line and all
- ✓ The delivery address on the order is the one the quote was priced for
- ✓ A fee on a bespoke listing, like the daybed cushion, can be genuine; a fee on a standard one deserves a message
- ✓ Want it later than it's ready? Note your exact delivery date in the order

## The checkout shipping charge that was a system error

One buyer, sending an order to a far destination, saw a shipping charge at checkout that matched nothing on the quote. It looked like a storm warning.

It was a system error, and the workshop corrected it. The lesson, friend: a strange number at checkout is a question to ask, not a bill to pay.

> **Tailor's margin:** Read the shipping line on a custom cushion quote before you pay. If checkout adds a charge the quote didn't show, message the workshop first.

> Custom cushions to the US travel by express courier; read the shipping line on the quote before you pay, so no second bill arrives.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** How much is shipping to the US?

**The workshop's answer:** It depends on the order, and the quote states it for your address. Past standard orders to the US showed no separate shipping line, while a few bespoke listings carried their own fee, so compare the checkout total with your quote.

**A common question:** If you quote me a custom size, is shipping on top of that?

**The workshop's answer:** It depends on the quote. One custom quote to the US was given as the delivered price, express shipping included; other quotes list shipping on its own line, so read that line before you pay.

**A common question:** Is the price including shipping, and how fast does it arrive once it ships?

**The workshop's answer:** Read the shipping line on your quote for the cost. Past US orders went by express courier, UPS Express or FedEx Express, and the delivery time is counted from dispatch, after the cushion is cut and sewn.

**A common question:** Checkout is showing a shipping fee that looks far too high. Is that right?

**The workshop's answer:** Message the workshop before paying. One very high shipping charge to a far destination turned out to be a system error, and the workshop corrected it.

**A common question:** Can I order now at the sale price and have it delivered later?

**The workshop's answer:** It has been done: one buyer ordered during a sale and noted the exact delivery date in the order, and the order was held and shipped to arrive after that date. Agree the date with the workshop before you pay.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Which carrier brings a custom cushion order?

Express couriers. Large orders have traveled by UPS Express and the rest by FedEx Express, and the quote shows what the express service costs to your address.

### Why does one daybed listing charge shipping when the slipcover doesn't?

A few bespoke listings carry their own shipping fee. A bespoke daybed cushion did, while the daybed slipcover had none. If you're unsure whether a fee applies to your order, message the workshop before checkout and ask.

### How soon after dispatch does a cushion reach a US address?

The express courier leg is counted from dispatch, not from the day you order, because a made-to-measure cushion has to be cut and sewn first; the current courier time comes with your quote.
