# Does the floor sofa come with the metal bars, and how many should I have?

*The bars are the part nobody photographs. They are also the part that keeps the backrest where you left it.*

Also asked as: Does this come with the metal bars?; Should I have extra bars when I'm done?

> **The quick answer:** Yes, the modular floor sofa comes with its metal support bars, and they are needed to hold the backrests and armrests. A single teddy sofa includes 4 bars, a 3-seater uses 5 pieces, the L-shape set with ottoman includes 6, and a full corner set needs 8 large and 8 small pieces. If bars seem missing, look for a second parcel, then send a photo of what arrived.

## Key facts

- Metal support bars are included with the modular floor sofa.
- The bars hold the backrests and armrests in place.
- Single teddy sofa: 2 armrests, 2 seat cushions and 4 metal bars.
- 3-seater: 5 bar pieces, one per side and two for the back.
- L-shape set with ottoman: 6 bars; full corner set: 8 large and 8 small pieces.
- A plain ottoman and the freestanding model need no bars.
- Bars may arrive in a separate parcel; if pieces are missing, send a photo and keep the workshop's answer in writing.

## “Are the bars in the box?”

Yes. The modular floor sofa ships with its metal support bars. The description says so, and the bars are not optional.

They hold the backrests and armrests upright and stop a backrest from sliding.

The doubt usually starts with a photo. When the sofa is laid flat as a bed, the bars are out of the picture. They are still part of the set.

## “How many should I count?”

| Setup | Metal bars | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Single teddy sofa | 4 (U-shaped frames) | With 2 armrests and 2 seat cushions |
| 3-seater | 5 pieces | One per side, two for the back |
| L-shape set with ottoman | 6 bars | The ottoman with backrest has its own holder |
| Full corner set | 8 large + 8 small | Extras can be kept as spares |
| Plain ottoman | None | No backrest to hold |
| Freestanding model | None | Extra bars can be added |

## “I have a few left over.”

On a full corner set, that can happen. The set needs 8 large and 8 small pieces, and any extras can be kept as spares.

Check that every backrest and armrest has its holder. An ottoman with a backrest carries its own. A plain ottoman needs none.

The bars are steel, finished in chrome only. The workshop sends a setup video showing how they click into place, and the [support bars assembly Pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/floor-sofa-support-bars-assembly/) walks the same steps. The glossary keeps a short note on [metal support bars](https://cushionguide.com/glossary/#metal-support-bars).

## “Only two of the L-shaped bars are here.”

Look for a second parcel first. Bars can ship apart from the cushions, in their own box, with set-up instructions. Check every tracking number.

If a piece is truly missing, send a photo of what arrived, with every tracking number from the order.

Because the sofa comes as separate pieces, it also fits through a normal door. The [modular floor sofa atlas](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/modular-floor-sofas/) and the [layouts Pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/modular-floor-sofa-layouts/) show how the pieces combine. Which setup are you building?

The bars are small.
Nobody photographs them.
The backrest depends on them.

> **Tailor's margin:** A single teddy floor sofa ships with 4 metal bars; a full corner set needs 8 large and 8 small pieces, and any extras become spares.

> A 3-seater floor sofa uses 5 metal bar pieces: one for each side and two for the back.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** Does the modular floor sofa come with the metal bars, and what finish are they?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes, the bars come with the sofa. They are steel and available only in chrome. Extra bars have been offered in sets of four or pairs, an ottoman with backrest includes an extra metal holder, and the workshop sends a setup video showing how the bars click into place.

**A common question:** How many metal bars should come with the sofa, and what if some are missing?

**The workshop's answer:** A single teddy sofa includes 2 armrests, 2 seat cushions and 4 metal bars, 4 U-shaped frames in total. A full corner set needs 8 large and 8 small pieces, and extras can be kept as spares. The ottoman needs no metal. Missing pieces are shipped free.

**A common question:** Is the floor sofa one piece? Will it fit through my door, and are the bars needed?

**The workshop's answer:** It is made of separate pieces, so it fits through a normal door. The metal bars are included and are needed to hold the armrests; photos of the bed setup just don't show them.

**A common question:** Do I need to buy the bars separately?

**The workshop's answer:** No. The modular sectional comes with its bars, as the description states. The freestanding model doesn't need bars, though extra bars can be added. Bars can ship in a separate parcel with set-up instructions.

**A common question:** Does the L-shaped floor sofa with ottoman include the backrest and metal supports?

**The workshop's answer:** Yes. It comes with the backrest, and the set includes 6 metal bars; the ottoman-plus-backrest module has its own support too. The bars mainly hold the backrest in place and stop it from sliding.

## Questions buyers ask next

### Can the chaise end sit on the left instead of the right?

Yes. The sectional is fully modular with no fixed direction, so the chaise, open end or ottoman can go on either side. Move the L-shaped backrest to the other corner and the bars follow it.

### If I add an ottoman later, does it bring its own bar?

Yes. The add-on ottoman, 39 x 39 x 13.5 in (99 x 99 x 34 cm), ships with a straight backrest and a metal bar. Add it with a straight backrest for a three-seater, or with a corner backrest to make an L.

### Can two teddy floor sofas be joined into one L-shaped sectional?

Yes. Buy two teddy sofas and the workshop swaps in straight backrests where needed so they join as an L-shaped corner; in past orders the backrest price difference was refunded. Colors can be mixed piece by piece.
