# Do custom cushions come with ties, or do I have to ask for them?

*Ask. Nothing ties itself on, and the workshop won't guess what you meant to write.*

Also asked as: No ties?; I didn't think I needed to request ties.

> **The quick answer:** Custom cushions do not come with ties unless you request them when you order. The same goes for a non-slip bottom. Write exactly what you want in the personalization note, such as 'two corner ties' or 'anti-slip underside', before the order goes into production. Straps have been added free of charge on request.

## Key facts

- Ties are not included unless you request them.
- A non-slip bottom is not included unless you request it.
- Requests go in the personalization note at order time.
- Straps have been added free of charge on request.
- Missed ties can be added afterwards by a local tailor.
- A non-slip base replaces the whole bottom panel with grippy fabric; the newer washable version adds time to production, so ask how much.
- Zippered covers wash at 86°F (30 °C) max, but a white non-slip panel is wiped clean, never machine washed or dried.
- Rectangular chair and bench pads come 2-5 in thick; a 1 in pad can be made only without piping.

## Why ties only happen if the note asks for them

Right, then. The personalization note is where a cushion's extras live, and anything not written there simply isn't sewn. Ties, straps and a non-slip bottom are all on-request options, not defaults.

So write it plainly: 'two corner ties', or 'anti-slip underside, no velcro'. For [dining chair cushions](https://cushionguide.com/cushions/dining-chair-cushions/), the [tie placement Pattern](https://cushionguide.com/guides/cushion-tie-placement-chairs-swings/) shows where ties earn their keep, and [ties, non-slip base or velcro](https://cushionguide.com/guides/stop-bench-cushion-sliding-ties-nonslip/) compares the three. What does your cushion sit on: a spindle chair, a bench, a window seat?

## Tie and non-slip lines worth adding to your note

- ✓ Four corner ties, if you'll knot them together under the seat.
- ✓ Two ties on the back edge, if you'll tie around a rail.
- ✓ Anti-slip underside, for a seat with nothing to tie to.
- ✓ Tie positions marked on a sketch or photo, then check the pre-shipment photo.

## The chair pads that arrived bare

A buyer in the US assumed ties came standard and never mentioned them. The chair cushions arrived without any. The workshop offered to pay half of what a local tailor charged to sew ties on afterwards. A fair fix, dear, but a detour one line in the note would have saved.

> Ties and a non-slip bottom are both on-request extras on a custom cushion: if the personalization note doesn't mention them, they aren't sewn on.

> **Tailor's margin:** Custom chair cushions ship without ties unless the order says otherwise; write 'two corner ties' in the personalization note before production.

## Buyer questions

**A common question:** Will my custom chair cushions have ties on them automatically?

**The workshop's answer:** No. Ties are added only when requested at the time of ordering. A buyer who assumed they were standard received chair cushions without them, and the workshop offered to pay half of a local tailor's cost to add them.

**A common question:** Is there a non-slip bottom or ties on the cushion?

**The workshop's answer:** Not by default. Anti-slip fabric can go on the underside, or ties such as two corner ties can be added, on request; write it in personalization. Straps have been added free of charge.

**A common question:** Is a non-slip bottom included, or is it an add-on?

**The workshop's answer:** An optional add-on. The cost scales with cushion size: note 'non-slip base' and your exact size in personalization, and it goes into your quote or a link is sent for the difference.

## Questions buyers ask next

### What else keeps a seat cushion from sliding on a bench?

Corner ties, an anti-slip fabric bottom, or a non-slip pad under the cushion. Heavy tufted cushions rarely slide at all, and on a window seat without a back wall, a non-slip underlay plus side bolsters works.

### Do ties add to the price of a custom cushion?

It varies. Straps have been added free of charge on request, while a non-slip bottom is priced by cushion size. Write what you want in the personalization note and the quote will show it before production.

### Will floor sofa mattresses stay together without ties when used as a bed?

Mostly. Non-slip fabric underneath and the weight of the pieces keep them side by side. They don't attach to each other and there's no velcro; ties were offered once, so ask before ordering.
